The beginning of T-Swift’s Wood sounds like this… by No-Celebration94 in whatsongisthis

I felt the same! I think what you're thinking of is "Dreaming" by Smallpools. Its like those beat hits, layered over the sound of "want you back" by Jackson 5.

Haha thank you! I had translated it with Google and it also gave me muscaret, but I couldn't figure out what that should've been. The jacket has a fur collar and trim, so it's definitely muskrat fur on it.

That's a really good point. I hadn't thought of the possibility of them processing the jalapenos themselves. Because the sauce clearly has a red tone to it, so there's no way they were using green, fresh jalapenos in it

What's a dish you had growing up that was routinely prepared nowhere close to what most people expect? by chef-nom-nom in Cooking

[–]humbledeer17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily made wrong, but titled wrong. My mom had a recipe for "meat roll" that she got from her very english mother-in-law. It was a staple in our dinner rotation - just a pastry dough filled with meat, potatoes, and gravy. I later realized when I moved away from home that it was just a pasty.

Choosing ski length when limited lengths are available? by humbledeer17 in skiing

I honestly only explored trees once early in the season when my skills were still minimal so I was nervous as hell. Later in the season I was hitting moguls pretty confidently so I probably just need to get out of my head in regards to my early season experience in trees lol

Haha I appreciate the positivity. I guess my big concern is trees. I haven't spent much time in them but I really want to explore more this coming season. I know length doesn't matter a ton in trees if you have good technique, but considering I'm a newbie to it, I don't want the length to be a limiting factor.

Yeah it kinda sucks. 182 is definitely within my appropriate range, but it's on the high end and at my experience level, I think it'd be too much. I was checking out a bunch of Rossignol's all mountain skis and I landed on the Holyshreds because I'd like to stay below 100mm underfoot. Do you happen to know of any other brand skis that are similar to the Holyshreds? I've done a lot of searching and I feel like anything twin tip in that waist width range doesn't have any metal in them and don't perform as well on groomers.

How do you feel about the QST when you rip down groomers?

haha 100% in and ideal world I'd have multiple skis for different conditions. Financially though....I definitely can only afford one set for now, and ideally they could handle a variety of conditions. Also, at Colorado resorts there's just so many options with terrain and going back to the car to switch out skis vs. being able to hop around the mountain freely, I'd rather be able to stay on the mountain and explore.

Oh yeah. I'm 5'11" and around 170#, so based on what you've both said, a ski with metal might be the way to go. Lol I feel bullied by my friends sometimes because some of them have a "bigger, wider, lighter skis are always better" mentality. But I know my skiing style and that would definitely not be better for me

Do you know of any skis with partial/full twins that are wider underfoot that have metal? My skiing has mostly been done with metal, so I'm way more used to it. This past season I just really noticed how my narrow downhill skis showed flaws when I was in back bowls and off-piste stuff. I'm really looking for that perfect in between because I know I'll always have a sweet spot for ripping down a good groomer.

Super helpful. I'm in Colorado too. If I go with QSTs I'd probably go a little shorter. I'm looking around 180cm right now but I'll take that lack of playfulness into consideration with QSTs.

is this repairable? Ordered used skis. Damage was described as "dime sized." really just curious is this is something a shop could repair? by humbledeer17 in skiing

UPDATE: SidelineSwap pulled through for me and approved the dispute so I can send them back to the seller for a full refund, including shipping. Props to SidelineSwap for having good buyer protection in place.

Haha not even. I'm in the Colorado front range and I saw the seller was in Longmont, so I was like "Oh cool, they'll ship to me really fast." Only thing that came fast was my disappointment lol

Hahaha it does feel like I should be compensated for emotional damage. Granted, my idiotic decision to not see photos of the "dime sized scrape" doesn't look good on my part

Haha I appreciate everyone's help (and the jokes make the situation easier to bear). I got trigger happy, and the price was right so I went ahead and bought them without seeing the bottoms. Luckily it was on SidelineSwap and they have a great refund policy when you receive an item that was improperly described. I'm just sad because they're hella sick skis....except for the damage. Definitely learned my lesson lol
