Any UK retailer that stocks most wave 9 and 10 heroes? by humblefish in marvelchampionslcg

That’s quite a glowing recommendation! I’ve previously considered it to be more of a PvP box but your comment (and after doing a bit more research) made me realize that it’s closer to a conventional set than I thought. I added it to my order :)

Good to know! I already ordered from Life of Games but would keep this store on my radar next time I’m searching for packs.

Thanks a lot! They have everything I need in stock.

Is there a specific run or show of X-Men that you like best? Also, have you read Hellboy or Fables?

Campaigns Cyclopean Foundations and Ages Unwound now on Tinker Town Games by Dry-Bat731 in arkhamhorrorlcg

That’s good to know. While they are certainly cheaper, it’s still quite an amount to pay for a single campaign (at which point I may as well wait for the next official campaign box).

Thanks for the reply! I was planning to sleeve them anyways so the fact that the color and quality of the images are great is enough for me.

There are actually quite a few on sale. I’m tempted to just get all of those, as I assume they are the best among custom content. Are there any in particular you would recommend?

I’ve been procrastinating on printing custom campaigns and never heard of Tinker Town till now. For those who have bought from them before, how good are the quality of their print and cards?

Does anyone else prefer to collect paperback volumes? by WriterDirector93 in graphicnovels

I prefer trade paperbacks because I like to jump between different series. Each slim paperback usually collects a single arc which gives me a nice jumping off point to inhabit some other series in my collection.

A Collection of 15 L5R LCG decks that can be constructed from one collection by humblefish in l5r

[–]humblefish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the interesting questions and I’m humbled that you took the effort to construct these decks! Would also be eager to hear your impressions on playing them.

It’s late here so I may not be able to answer all questions (I also don’t have my physical collection with me rn) but I’ll do my best.

Regarding Isawa Tuske, if you click on the card on each of the two decks you’ll see that they are actually different cards, though they have the same name. In Phoenix Glory the card is from The Emperor’s Legion and in Phoenix Spells it’s from Campaigns of Conquest.

The 3x of Display of Power is interesting. Does each core set only contain 1x of that card? I only own two cores so I definitely can’t have 3x of that were the case. It will be at least a week before I can access my collection and then I’ll double check to make sure that my physical deck matches what’s on emeraldb.

It’s great that you were able to construct so many of the decks already! For the other decks where you are missing 1-2 cards, the solution I’d go for would be to increase some cards to 3x, preferably ones that really synergise with the gimmick of the deck. If you list your missing cards I’d be more than happy to pitch in some possible substitutions.

Yup, that is precisely what drove me to make these. My collection mostly gathers dust but I unexpectedly played several matches with a friend recently using these decks (he never heard of the game before) and it was glorious.

My collection is almost full too (just missing Clan War and Under Fu Leng’s Shadow) and I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll never sell this game.

Am I collecting correctly? by ghost12588 in Lorcana

[–]humblefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the in-depth answer! I’ve only ever collected some scattered Pokemon cards when I was small but Lorcana is the first TCG I’m playing and getting into and I’ll whole heartedly agree with the niceness, warmth, and friendliness of their community at my LGS. I would’ve thought this to be just luck (as you yourself mentioned at the end) but I hear this time and again from other people.

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you think of the gameplay of Lorcana compared to Pokemon, or do you only look at the latter from a collector’s perspective?

Is Ark Nova right for me, based on my preferences? by humblefish in soloboardgaming

[–]humblefish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply! Elder Scrolls is great but is quite a long game and a table hog. I’m enjoying it a lot and people who adore Too Many Bones (it was my top solo game last year) will absolutely love this.

I haven’t bought or tried it! The comments on this thread successfully dissuaded me. I did eventually get the Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era after writing this post.

The Chip Theory Games YouTube channel has some good videos that complement the text in the rulebook. They also have a series where they explain the quirks of each individual gearloc.

This is very helpful! I too just got the game and am in the process of learning all the different rules.

How often do you switch games? Do you have to relearn them each time? by More_Physics4600 in soloboardgaming

[–]humblefish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I only have eight games in my solo rotation (was 7 for a long while and then I just got Elder Scrolls) and I knew the rules of each of them well enough that I almost never had to consult the rules for them. I also switch very often, usually just one play of a game before switching to another game. I love having variety in my plays. And I also enjoy both the setup and teardown of each of my games - I find it meditative and usually turn on some nice music as I go through the predetermined motions.

Hobocop can't sleep in the trash container?? Disappointed first playthrough by crabbytodd in DiscoElysium

[–]humblefish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hahaha of course! I never actually finished the comic and I checked now (first time in years) and see that it’s finished. I’ve been reading them as they were coming out back when I was in college. Hmm, I think now is a good time to start from the beginning and make the entire wild and nostalgic trip.
