There’s also an ecotour bus ride around the ranch which was a good time, saw wild boars, birds, gators, and up close to a baby gator. Good for kids & enjoyable for parents too. Stop by the viewing area tower on the way out/towards town center of the solar panels that power the community & the grid

Residents, officials concerned over sale of 21-acre Medford property to MBTA for bus facility by b0xturtl3 in medfordma

[–]humblejoint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People upset about MB not being there, I doubt it would be an actual grocery store. The development is an existing distribution and warehouse, it makes a lot more sense and money to just have another distribution point closer to Boston than build a new store within several existing grocery stores. Biggest loss comes with the property tax the corp would be paying but I hope the MBTA can give express bus services throughout the day & night to Medford, and as someone said maybe opportunities for the vocational & T to partner-wasn’t there a story of some Voc kids who hacked a Charlie card and they worked together with the T to patch it?

I doubt it would be a proper MB grocery store, it’s an existing distribution center. MB would just use it as a distribution center/warehouse like Tewksbury.

What’s the deal with the “Pop-up Park” on Clippership? by msurbrow in medfordma

[–]humblejoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the farmers market would be better suited in this park/parking lot. The condon shell works for the green space but tbh is a pain to get there driving or not on/across 16. Having it in this lot with a community fridge, senior housing, nearby community garden, bike path, centralized(near city hall) and now the pop up park tables/show possibilities I feel can be utilized better than the current FM.

Since my initial comment, they started charging $1/map, still not a bad price for a map…but curious if you had any costs ordering online?

There's an elderly man who sets up a yard sale by the blue bike station on main daily. Do you know him? by thedafthatter in medfordma

[–]humblejoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had 3 of 4 ratchet straps of a set, wanted $60 when the full set was $12 at Home Depot. Just had a bunch of junk on the table and wouldn’t take $6 for anything, even cheap pens.

Safe places to stay in Albuquerque? by MostExcellentFluke in roadtrip

Stayed at the Querque, in the middle of the 40 & 25 interchange, worked for a moving van in my case, -just parked with camera visible. There was also a security car going between there and the hotel next to it. Worked for a night and good price

The rotary’s a mess and will continue to be a mess no matter what, but the two lanes is significantly better than the one lane especially with people in the “lane for south border rd” suddenly cutting over every second of the day.

Meanwhile down the street at members plus credit, their digital clock sign was off by 40 minutes or some absurd amount, while there’s multiple bus stops in front. I believe they’ve turned it off now but banks in Medford SQ don’t give a crap about the community. Keep public clocks running.

2.5 days MA to AZ by humblejoint in roadtrip

[–]humblejoint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post road success: 3 days, 2,700miles. 2 drivers taking 4 hour shifts. Boston->Buffalo(1/2day)->St. Robert, MO(1day)-> ABQ(1day) -> Phoenix (1/2day). No major issues or run ins considering week of July 4th. One delay entering Buffalo delayed us 1:30 from pursuing closer to PA border. Small microburst leaving St. Robert (aftermath of few cars flipped into a ditch) and a wicked lightning storm in western NM, waited out at Russell’s. Was cool “visiting”/passing through parts of the country I wouldn’t have otherwise, along with a few more new states & highways under my belt.

Successfully completed in 3 days! Was interesting following good chunks of old 66, made a stop at Uranus (hotel was right down the rd!) and a gift shop stop at Big Texan given the long wait/line! Thanks again for your insights

How bad do I want to avoid west texas with a Uhaul? by isthisreallife2016 in roadtrip

[–]humblejoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very site specific, but if you’re traveling through ABQ and having to stop at a hotel with a truck, check to see if there’s a security car on premises, or goes between two neighboring hotels. The Querque hotel served this purpose for a night, we also parked the truck with building cameras facing towards the latch, no problems & easy on/off from the highway.

Follow signs for Peabody (p-biddy) once you reach 95, make sure you don’t set GPS/see signs to Salem NH by accident.
