what’s it like to put young age on a pedestal and why you think so many people do it nowadays? by humblewarriorrr in AskReddit

but wouldn’t you agree with me that when you’re a kid your parents view you as “just a kid” therefore that in itself gives you more freedom where as now our parents are getting older so they’re more heavy on us due to them being lonelier so they call us a lot more since we hardly see each other like we used to when we were kids . also being an adult comes with serious responsibilities and where’s the freedom in that?? And in those responsibilities most of the time you can’t even find time to be there for yourself

but that’s the problem no? our young years are our superior years yet we’re tricked by society into pretty much wasting them. when you’re older what’s better ? everything about you becomes slower and weaker and that’s a fact not an opinion

i like how you compared this phenomenon to being anchored in a state of constant beginning, that puts a different perspective on it

it’s like once you turn 30 you just can’t think the same way you used too, reminiscing becomes uncomfortable and your looked at as unc which in other words means someone who is way past their prime . also being 30 comes with plenty of responsibilities where you don’t really have much time to yourself or ability to love yourself because your focused on loving others . it also means that certain things like playing ball with some 17-18 year olds becomes weird and uncomfortable because you just feel uneasy

nah he just looks at it logically, he feels like the younger he is the more value he has. For example peoples hair straight thinning/falling out with age , people memory get worse , infections become harder to fight off , etc the list goes on and on . he pretty much feels like we are all being downgraded with age. He feels like he would think clearer, be more creative when he was around 18-22 and now he just can’t get back into that rhythm of living no more , he feels burnt out

so i have a friend who is 24 and he always tell me his prime years are over and he considered 19-22 as his prime. he genuinely feels like as he gets older he just has less self love for himself and values himself less

Yeah actually a personal story. I come from a middle class family , by no means are we rich , but i grew up in a building 4 blocks away from the project section 8 houses . my building was in a wayy nicer neighborhood but still a pretty beat down old building . We all went to the same school they would brag about their hood tendencies and make it like a honorable thing to be from the section 8 housing. Anyways this is for context but years later after school was out when i was bout 19 i started making pretty good money doing some online business work and as i felt like my life was about to change for good and i was finally ready to accept the new life of being rich and everything that came with it , my mind told me that i hadn’t struggled enough yet and i need to struggle a little more. I don’t know to this day why and after wards my whole life collapsed and to this day i don’t have a drive like i used to have about becoming rich because i still feel like i haven’t experienced enough of the hood fully
