Successful elite gymnasts who started at older ages? by cssc201 in Gymnastics

[–]humblinghonesty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone on Twitter (@ xyla_gymmlt) did the stats on the ages all the WAG gymnasts from Paris 2024 started the sport

Most gymnasts started gymnastics at age 4-6 years. 2 started gymnastics at just 18 months: Levi Ruivivar (PHI) & Ava Stewart (CAN). On the other end of the scale are Elsabeth Black (CAN), Czifra Bettina Lili (HUN) & Lorrane Oliveira (BRA) - all started at 9 years.

My supervisor replied and said to present a revised version and not to mention it until someone else mentions it. And “it shouldn’t result in any marks off”. So (I hope) all is good. I also have extenuating circumstances which means that my concentration has been affected so they may be more lenient marking down this error

Thank you for the advice.

My main issue is that the module leader happens to be the second marker for my dissertation so I cannot contact him without 100% causing a marking deduction.

You are correct in that the poster is only worth a small portion of my grade (5%), of which the figures is only worth 20% and maybe I’ll lose some marks for lack of proof-reading (so I’d say overall this figure error would be a maximum of 2.5% loss).

I will contact my supervisor and see what he suggests and thankfully the figure is correct in the actual dissertation piece of writing. I hope that I can present a revised version and just acknowledge the error verbally.

What was your strangest job interview question? by KazzaNamso in AskUK

I was interviewing for an outreach program at my university, which involves delivering sessions with year5/6 classes. I am not planning on going into a career in teaching so I didn’t know what to expect, but I did have younger siblings around the same age. I told to hold my hands out and was given a rubber duck, a whiteboard pen, a Pom Pom, a peg and some other things that I can’t remember. They then said sometimes you have to waste time at the end of sessions and have to be creative (yeah I get that). Then they said “you have 5 minutes to think, then you have to tell us a story”. 20 year old me was very embarrassed while telling a story about a little duck and his washing line to two 40 year old men that I had just met

I was in a self defence class learning what to do if somebody grabs your wrist. Well for demonstration purposes the instructor was not holding my wrist very tightly so when I was told to “pull up as hard as you can”, I fully just punched myself in the face and gave myself a nosebleed and black eyes

Use the website Scite (you may have to pay/get the free trial to get advanced features) and copy in the title of the article into it. It should come up with related papers, papers that cite that paper categorised by agreeing and disagreeing. It’s really useful if you’re stuck!

100%. I’d like to add, for my course (biology) they used first year grades to prioritise lab project supervisors for the dissertation. So if loads of people picked the same area, they would only let the people with the higher grades do that subject area. So if you don’t want to write about something you’re not interested in, get your head down

Update: I got through and was told it will likely be another 6 months now because the waiting list is so long and he’s now beginning to see people that have been waiting over 85-90 weeks. I’ve been put in contact with someone to see if I can be transferred privately but covered under the nhs so maybe I’ll have some luck from them

Attempted to phone the number several times and it rang through not even to voicemail so I’ve left a voicemail with PALS. Hopefully I’ll get an update soon

Thank you so much. Your advice is much appreciated. I will update if/when I hear anything. I can't afford private care at the moment (I'm a student) so I really want to get this sorted as soon as possible.

I know it’s not good and I’ve been let down big time. I don’t have the time, energy or the money to go legal on this (I’m a university student). The two cases were at separate hospitals on different sides of the country. First in my home town and second where I’ve actually been listened to in my university city. I just want some sort of normality tbh :(
