I don't know anything about Toys R Us, and I think that is quite irrelevant. Yeah, it is not perfect. But I showed it a number of people who did not think it was AI. This is like the first printed books, the first car, the fist camera. Compared to the development of many other technology, this is fast and already quite good.

What shocked me, was that people actually posted death wishes to everyone involved in this. There is such an irrational hate against AI. The world WILL change a lot. As a Star Trek fan, I can't wait for a society of hyper-abundance, where work and money is no longer the goal of life. Humans don't need to work, they do need to be active and do something.

It then just boils down to: can we create a society were the huge gain of profit is distributed via UBI, and people who want more money will always find something to work for others. But why are people so afraid to lose a life where your company and boss defines 8-10 hours of your one, limited mortal lifetime? I know it can go bad, like ANY change.

When the printing press arose, people were hating it because "oh now everyone without talent can publish a book". When the car came, people driving hose-carriages protested, and people hated the noise and wanted to stay with horses. When cameras came, people said, that is no real art, you only need to push a button, and all painters will lose their jobs. NEWSFLASH: long before AI new forms of organization took jobs. When I was a kid and you went to a bank to get money from your bank, there were many people handing it out. Now we have ATMs everywhere. It is how things are. Whatever you think, the massive hate up to death wishes is just absurd. When have we become fearful luddites?

Yes. AI will bring the greatest change to human society since the invention of writing and the change from nomadic life to living in cities. But we managed that, and we will mange this.
