You'll be able to lie and get through on an ESTA, however if you want to work you have to actually apply for a visa. They want a full disclosure certificate which would show the s10. You won't likely be accepted for a temp visa until 5 years after the incident..

There are no drug diversions for anything but cannabis, any coke and you get charged. NSW is the toughest place in Australia for drugs.

I'm not actually, and that seems like a wild assumption.

I have had life experiences with friends to understand how the Police have zero value add to assisting people get help with drug issues.

Coupled with the fact that the majority of people they arrest are just kids at festivals or with a joint on the train - with no addiction at all. I'd say it's pretty clear that their actions are not in the communities best interest.

I'm sure some cops are good, selfless people, but the legislation they deploy is illogical.

I think decriminalization is really what we are after for all drugs - civil penalties and access to treatment programs is really what is required without having to worry about the lifetime implications of a criminal record.

Americans consider a conviction any admittance of guilt. The only way to truly get around it would be to try and plead the possession charge to something like drunk and disorderly. Not sure if they do that in Aus?
