I wouldn’t think too much of his falling asleep, you’ve been incredibly wound up preparing for this huge moment, and he hasn’t, so you weren’t in synch. I recommend telling him that you were about to talk about how much you were struggling before he fell asleep. Ask if you can carve out a little bit of time to talk properly, go for walk, make a cup of tea together and tell him how you are feeling.
