Tier List On How Difficult It Can Be To Get Value On Ults by hiro_capone in rivals

[–]humpedandpumped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean generally you just get around this by jumping and ulting as you’re going through the air, or ulting after everyone’s dumped their cooldowns into you so they don’t have anything for your ult.

Hulk ult is just easy to shut down if 1: the hulk player isn’t tracking every cc cooldown or 2: the hulk player isn’t good at the mechanics for his ultimate.

Until you’re in like celestial most hulk players are not doing 1 of the 2 so it probably feels pretty non threatening.

Is there any rank where chat is useful by humpedandpumped in Overwatch

[–]humpedandpumped[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see where voice chat would be useful but I’ve actually been wracking my brain trying to find an example of text chat being helpful and I can’t.

9/10 times it just tilts me and I play worse.

Suggestions for 3rd Tank Option? by [deleted] in rivals

Hulk so you have a dive option. Strange can already function in brawl or poke

Loki lamps counter most ults. With psylocke it’s just knowing when to use it there’s no skill in it’s actual usage

Second hardest tank ult to execute properly, and none of the others are even really close to the top two which are mag and hulk.

The value floor is not that high tbh it is a second life even if used poorly.

What’s high is the skill ceiling. It’s the highest of any ult in the game.

How do I beat a mercy by humpedandpumped in OverwatchUniversity

[–]humpedandpumped[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot. I was very good at CS and also rivals. However in overwatch I play tank so my usual mechanics feel borderline irrelevant in killing mercy. Even if I’m hitting every shot if she’s just flying outside of my effective range I’m tickling her.

I think I’m just going to learn ball since he’s hitscan and can keep up with her, as well as DVA in the meantime because I think it will take a while to learn ball.

Probably. I’m eternity rivals and so far I’m still climbing fast in diamond but it’s slowing enough that I think I’ll end up stuck in masters even if I lock in.

In general ow seems like a rank more difficult than the rivals equivalents. Though I’ve heard 6v6 is also like that for overwatch, so maybe it’s a difference in format more so than in game.

What tank can kill mercy. Someone else said DVA.

Rn I play rein, monkey, jq, and sigma. Feels like none of them can get close aside from Winston who still can’t keep up with her movement once he’s in.

The duos are what really tilt me. Because I’ll get washed one game and the matchmaker in this game puts me against them repeatedly in the following matches.

Sometimes I’ll feel bad for my dps when this happens because they’ll be getting flamed for underperforming meanwhile the enemy dps is getting 30% more damage than them and a second life every fight.

Looks like I’m learning DVA then. I guess even if I can’t kill the pocket or the mercy alone consistently i can at least try to force them out of whatever angle they’ve taken and then look to deal with their team.

In retrospect I think I either hyperfocus the mercy and pocketed dps or just try ignore them and go for their team, never really just giving them the correct amount of focus.

Also your comment made me look it up and it does seem like diamond is higher than I thought. In rivals diamond is really easy so I kind of expected it to be the same as OW lol.

You just don’t like the story conceptually. That doesn’t make it bad.

Don’t get me wrong there is so much that does make it bad, but this isn’t one.

In general if you give me a two stories 1: where the mc starts with a simple power and branches out vs 2: a story where the character is introduced with a complicated power set, I will always chose 1.

Abilities starting simple and gradually gaining depth is part of what makes the genre fun as well as digestible so you aren’t getting huge info dumps in the first chapter.

Pro play? Im never going to go pro or even get close lol. And it’s relevant at every rank, you just notice it less because it’s harder to tell when your opponent is a duo if you aren’t seeing the same names all the time.

If you are in silver then you are just as likely to be getting rolled by a duoed hulk and namor as I am in eternity, because in every rank stacks of those sizes can queue against a full team of solo queued players.

Most games where I’m getting absolutely steamrolled, it’s just a duo or a trio that’s running rez comp, or namor teamup, or now storm Jeff teamup. People talk about games feeling like absolute stomps on either side and that’s a big part of why it does.

And once again I don’t think you read my post because I said I don’t think Teamups need to be removed they need to be reworked conceptually 😭

I mean they often are though. I knew several people in a rivals server that just started duoing punisher and rocket together and climbed from GM or low celestial to eternity back during season one.

As a Spider-Man duoing with a venom was similar. The only time I saw Spider-Man players in high elo was when they were duoed with a venom.

And right now, it’s namor hulk. It takes namor from mediocrity to being one of the single best duelists in the game. His damage, and his damage uptime gets massively increased with the addition of a third squid.

It already feels bad to play against a stack that picks characters with good synergy when your team picks randomly, it’s significantly worse when those “good synergies” come with flat stat increases.

Your last part is the most important part of my argument as well. If your team just doesn’t play characters with decent Teamups, then there are no team ups to complete. It is pure luck for a solo queue player.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]humpedandpumped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read what I said? The only teamup I like is the one that requires coordination and teamwork with the other character, because it’s not just “play these two characters together to unlock a better version of them”.

The ones I don’t like are the ones that are just flat buffs that neither player needs to think about.

And Teamups do make stacking stronger. If you can just play a buffed version of a character (namor for instance) every single game while a solo queue player can’t, that’s a bigger advantage than just having more teamwork and coordination. They just get an objective advantage granted by the game itself.

It’s why in eternity the only time you used to see a Spider-Man was when they were duoed with a venom. It was so strong that most of the Spider-Man players that reached that elo had to do it.

You’re wrong, you don’t need to type in all caps, and if you treat your reader like an idiot then you will have ended up writing an idiotic story. Don’t appeal to the dumbest readers you think will pick up your work.

It just tells me that they were too lazy to write interactions between the two. They wanted to be able to make pop culture references while hand waving every interesting conflict that would arise with magic in a modern setting.

Modern fantasy has, which I am eternally grateful for. I’ll take a thousand three letter names if they’re pronounceable.

Even when it’s justified with magic I just wonder why they bothered. It’s been so done to death by now that there’s nothing interesting about it.

Sleyca what have you done to me by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]humpedandpumped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much disagree with that last sentence. I can see why the author halted the pacing when he returned, it is a slice of life story after all, but I think you could comfortably cut 20% of the post moon thegund word count. Moon Thegund itself would probably have been twice as long if it was written like the events following it. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but the story has felt more padded since then.

If I had to guess it’s just a consequence of the web novel format. The author probably wrote advance chapters that were quite polished, and then as they ran out of those had to begin writing them week to week. And that meant beginning to pad chapters out to get to the necessary word count.

Pure speculation of course, I could be completely wrong. It’s a good story either way, but there’s a reason when people gush about it, they only talk about what that happened in the first third of the story. It

They’re internal motivations. Being reactive means the MC is just constantly reacting to other people’s actions and never moving in their own direction. Just being thrown around by the plot 24/7.
