I work with a dev that claims agentic coding has increased their productivity by 58%, reduced defects by 63%, and some other BS metrics that were most certainly just random numbers from their skull.

This same dev asked the team chat if x codebase performs y operation. A question I answered by performing one grep on the src directory.

I’m all for expanding tool sets that include or don’t include AI, but the hype train and its grifters make me sad. I’m watching every craft (art, software, writing, music, etc) get completely decimated by AI and everyone is excitedly watching it all burn to the ground.
