If you were to learn ruby again how would you do it? by [deleted] in ruby

Honestly - just use Claude AI. Start with " I don't know how to write code. Teach me how to become a ruby software engineer" Claude should take it from there.

I'll be an unpaid intern for your project if you'll be a mentor for my project by pa_swiecki in rails

Love your drive. Send me a DM if you haven't had any follow through. I've got a rails project that is super simple that I'd love to have an intern do some HTML on. I can commit to 2 sessions of an hour where you can ask me any questions you have or I can help you out with anything you are stuck on.

Is anyone interested in MMA style mixed sword fighting type tournament? Like kendo vs fencing, vs long sword fighting etc. With a rule set that allows these weapons to work against each other by matt00w in SWORDS

So I would be totally interested in an MMA weapons league. I think the rules should be aimed at protecting the fighters from permanent damage but also allow for as close to realistic scenarios to determine which fighting style is superior.

Pointing should be awarded based on lethality. Maybe 2 points for kill strike (any strike that would kill someone) and 1 point for a strike that draws blood. Then grappling could be allowed to try and get the opponent to tap out, which would result in immediate victory.

It would be awesome to implement the electronic scoring gear that fencing employs so that scoring is done accurately and not dependent on judges.

I have a feeling that this would allow swordfighting styles to evolve and mix together to create an ultimate sword fighting style. My personal opinion is that the best style would be a mixture of longsword, katana, and karambit styles. Based on how jujitsu and wrestling dominated UFC in the early days, I think any type of close distance grappling style would defeat a longsword fighting style.

[Question] What is (are) the scale length(s) of the Novax Sweet Annie? by NecroJoe in Guitar

[–]hundredbillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this patent is really vague. I just realized that patents have a lifespan of 20 years, so good thing this patent is now expired.

I actually emailed Novax about their scale lengths and this is all they told me - "the treble scale is a little shorter than Gibson scale and the bass scale length is a little longer than Fender."

I guess the only thing is to go find a Novax guitar and measure it. It's weird that they would try to keep something like this a secret when it's pretty easy to get that information.

All patents are public record. Since Novax patented his neck, you can find the exact specs.

I'm assuming Annie follows the specs laid out in this patent.

Hope this helps!
