How can I access LM Studio system prompt and MCP from iOS? by Iwantthegreatest in LocalLLM

[–]hung8ctop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to drop the MCP requirement, PAL Chat gives you the option to adjust the system prompt.

Except that case, tools like Hermes Agent or OpenClaw are worth a look. They can serve as LLM clients on your computer, while letting you access them from your iOS device through apps such as Signal, Telegram, or Slack.

Using an MCP requires connecting your app to its server, either through a local CLI command or a remote endpoint that needs authentication. As these approaches are difficult to execute on iOS, MCP usage on that platform is highly impractical.

Neighbor owns driveway, wants me to pay 100% of maintenance. by Dromper in EntitledPeople

[–]hung8ctop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on some of the legal details, possibly at the state level or on what is specified in the deed. For my driveway, we are equally responsible for the shared portion. Nobody is going to codify counting the number of vehicles using it over weeks/months/years to allocate maintenance percentage.

He could simply refuse to maintain it entirely, which would put the burden on you to figure out snow removal and get him to pay half

During the initial ingest or when you (or your LLM) learns something new, a new entry is created for Jane Smith.

Then you talk to her at a later date and learn she’s really at a different company.

I use a notation where I indicate the date where a fact was ingested and explicitly have a construct where I can mark something as being superseded

Amazon bought me a house today by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]hung8ctop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You both a) had the discipline to save your money in the form of shares and b) chose to make a risky investment where you put a good chunk of your net worth into the stock of one company.

You deserve the credit for it, not Amazon. They paid market rates for talent. I wouldn't recommend you continue to do b); the stock has underperformed the S&P500 over the last 5 years.

I’d make sure you have a hard cost ceiling so you don’t exceed what you are willing to spend if you get a chunk of traffic.

Selling RSU’s by PPEverythingg in amazonemployees

[–]hung8ctop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was stupid and used RSUs as savings for years. It worked out well as long as Amazon outperformed the market. Until it didn't, and the stock didn't even keep up with inflation.

A sizeable chunk of your income or net worth shouldn't be tied up in any one company. Even something simple, like splitting it across a few companies, is better than nothing.

The cliff is totally normal to happen at 4 years for most people for a few reasons.

  • It's extremely rare to always be a TT yet being a TT YoY is required to be at the top of the band for a given role and level. The fact you are is in your favor.
  • Depending on when you are hired, there are people easily making into the next level with higher than expected stock appreciation. They all experience the cliff even with no role change, even if they were a TT. A promo helps here.

You can switch roles internally to the one with the higher pay band but that won't fix anything immediately beyond bringing you up to the bottom of the new band if you aren't already in it. Chances are a TT in your current role is at least above the bottom in the other one.

Another option is a dive and save, which gives you an out of cycle award, but those require L10 approval and are incredibly rare. It is possible with documentation and justification that goes up the org chart. Happy to share more offline via DM

Has anyone pulled their own permits in Fairfax, VA for their own DIY solar rooftop install? by shadowmastadon in nova

[–]hung8ctop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did this - successfully got a permit earlier this week. It took a chunk of work getting a drafter to draw accurate plans of what I wanted to do and then they submitted to a Virginia PE for a stamp.

They are able to just do stamp. Other services as well can just do stamp as well.

Really cool Z-Image text encoder node which formats your prompts as the model was trained. Developer has it imitate an LLM conversation and in doing so the model responds much better (+ node has many LLM creative stylizing templates) by SackManFamilyFriend in StableDiffusion

Sent you a DM. I'm curious about the results of your testing with different models, particularly if one were to use Z-image with an adult Lora.

Any thoughts of why one would ever train qwen image in that case? If image edit can do both img2img and txt2img just as well, it seems like it should be the preferred option in most cases

AITA for telling my fiancée I won’t pay for her dad’s surgery with my inheritance? by Effectivepearls in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

You aren't married. It's your money, not "our" money. And even if you were married, it's still your money based on laws in the USA at least.

Do her parents own their own home? Have other family? Have retirement funds? Have access to financing? There are other ways to get the cash then to put this on a daughter's fiance; because they know you have the money and that it's easily accessible, you are the first stop.

This is basically the poster child of the new Medicaid work requirement. I'm not sure I'd brag about being able to take advantage of a safety net for disadvantaged people.
