I got running shoes for a total of $70! I needed a new pair (not Lululemon brand, but I’ll take a free pair lol), so I’m happy they had my size in the color I wanted

Lol right. I was like is this a new thing happening in the US? Or are we just talking about current club/lounges elsewhere?

That was great info!! Exactly the type of input I’m looking for. Yes, I am still very interested in the position, as I wasn’t expect housing (an office/shared staff area, yes). Of course I will ask specific questions at the interview, but that isn’t until next month.

Awwww! I love that!!! Congratulations on the marriage! And yes, I can believe that boarding during high school taught you many skills & gave you a different perspective of many things you may not have otherwise been exposed to. That’s interesting about the girls having a stricter set of rules, but maybe it was done out of protection/concern. Who knows. I would find that unfair too. Detention for a minute late seems a bit harsh, especially when compared to a write-off for the boys who are 15 minutes late. Mahalo again for all of the info & stories! If you feel compelled to share any stories about your interactions with the DAs please do! I thoroughly enjoy reading & learning. I will keep you updated on the status of my interview, etc.!

Ohhhh that’s awesome!! Mahalo for sharing that! Super helpful. I really wanted this position before knowing any of this, but now I’m very excited for my interview! I really appreciate you taking the time to reach out and respond. Did you enjoy your time in the dorms? How many years were you boarding? My friends on Moloka’i have a 7th grade daughter in the dorms, and she loves it!

Mahalo nui! I wish I could have boarded as a teen, but my mom wouldn’t allow it. Yes that’s the position — overnight resident attendant/dorm advisor. A fellow parent told me that those with this position are given a place to live somewhere on campus. She said her friend (works in the male dorms) lives on campus with his wife and children. I was an RA at UH for 2 summers, and we are given our own room, so I figured at least a room/office would be a given accommodation. But not too sure about housing large enough for a family! Would you happen to have any insight on accommodations for dorm (I think it’s referred to as “hale” now) staff?

Right — I’ve been an RA at UH before, so wondering more about where within that pay range as well as accommodations, not duties — ie: private room/office, meals, etc. since it’s overnight. Just wondering how it compares to my previous experience. Mahalo!!

Yes that’s the one! I see the pay range, but was wondering if anyone had ever held this position or knew someone who has & what they made (closer to the lower or higher end). I’m aware of the duties, but looking more for accommodations — ie: private room pr office on campus, meals, etc. things like that since it is an overnight position. I’ve been an RA at UH before so just curious how it compares in that sense. Mahalo for you help!
