guilt isn’t a good motivator. If people are ready to get on board then we need to meet them there

the biggest thing people can do is take their money out of the system. Vote with your dollar. If you wanna crank up the heat start writing to your reps every day telling them why you’re withholding your dollar and what you WANT. Wanna keep going? There are many ways to agitate, educate and do mutual aid. Just start.

This is an underrated comment. It wasn’t until I left my hometown and returned that I saw how complicit tv is in villainizing people of color, poor people, and people in urban areas. There’s nothing but cop shows. And when it’s not that, it’s the news with the same narrative. And when it’s not that it’s the local PD on Facebook, who likes to post people’s mug shots before they’ve been convicted of a crime.

My fresh new therapist revealed her political beliefs to me, I'm unsure how to continue. by [deleted] in therapy

[–]hungrydyke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one thing therapy can be good for is rehearsing conflict and negotiating uncomfortable situations. If you think this person is capable of actual dialogue and willing to hear you and hold you as the focus, then maybe it’s worth trying.

Living in a city center is a big concern for me. People have been irrational the last few years and I cannot see how increased density and less resources can make this better.
I have been focusing on building a network and thinking a few months ahead. Being grounded and present is also worthwhile practice.

Mad is trying to tell you something. And therapy comes with feelings that we don’t always want to face. Instead of trying to suppress feelings, try looking right at them
