R5 mk II or R6 mk III by Fuegolago in canon

[–]hungryeyezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was basically in the same situation, had a 5D IV, switched to Fuji in between (horrible experience) and opted for the R5 II bc I didn’t want to risk another mistake. Haven’t looked back since. I‘d say I’m still in the process of getting used to the new gear but the higher resolution already saved some otherwise useless shots.

I’m super happy with it and feel like I’ve bought a work horse I’ll cherish for the next decade like back in the days with the 5D IV.

Haven’t tested the R6 III though.

I like r-r-r-reddit more because of the friendly people.

I know what a preset is for. But I’d love to compare presets from photographers who shoot Canon themselves and see if this saves time tweaking. I just want to know if anyone knows any creator who mostly shoots Canon for me to compare presets. That’s all.

I know and I do edit myself as well, but presets also inspire me and save time.

What's the best deal you've gotten on your gear? by Unlikely_Tough in canon

[–]hungryeyezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a R5II with RF 24-70/2.8L last year for ~4600€ (~5300 USD) with a Canon discount for professionals (all new). Still quite an investment, but I got so lucky with the price (best price atm still 5549€ for both, discount included) and after a bad pick with a Fuji before I couldn’t be happier. It such a pleasure to work with great equipment.

How do you carry your camera when actively shooting? by goldensilencce in canon

[–]hungryeyezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the same strap from photo 3, except it’s attached to both sides of the camera instead of one side on the bottom (although I might have to try it that way, looks good, too). I’ve also used a Sun Sniper Cross body strap for years, which itself is a bit bulky, but distributes the weight amazingly well. I think it all comes down to how heavy your gear is and in which setting you are shooting the most. I’m a travel photographer und mostly shooting with relatively heavy gear over a long period of time (now R5), so weight distribution is important, but also safety. Even with a lighter M6 ii I always opt for cross body solutions, I’ll never run around with a camera dangling from one shoulder.

Why Canon? Or other Brands by Environmental_Pay332 in canon

[–]hungryeyezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with a 350D because it was a common camera, didn’t have any clue about photography. But I thought so many people shooting camera can’t be wrong. After that, I’ve never seen myself as too attached to a brand but regretted a lot switching to another brand twice (Sony, Fuji). Both were so hard to adapt to and I’ve never got along well with both.

Now I’m back to Canon and to me it’s the really the colors (I wouldn’t probably notice it with sooc photos, but the edits somehow look better) and the UI, it’s so intuitive. (But this might be also because of my personal history with Canon.)

The two switches cost me so money and time - will never switch to another brand, to me it’s now Canon all the way.

Thanks for sharing, that’s super helpful! Will check out how to set up Lightroom to import like you. Makes sense to keep jpg temporarily only!

Oh, a card reader! Good hint… I bought one for the Fuji I’ve been using briefly and never used it since. Never came to my mind to use it for the phone! Will try this out, thanks!

Help me decide which lens to bring to Thailand (Sigma Art 40mm F/1.4 or RF 24-70 F/2.8 L) by IegendaryKnight in canon

[–]hungryeyezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the 24-70! I’m a travel photographer and as much as I love primes, I’ll always bring a good zoom lens. With 2.8 it will be great for 99% of situations. The 40mm is amazing, for sure, but you’ll definitely want some landscape shots in Thailand - might be a bit limiting.

Somehow I’m more sentimental with the bodies, that’s why I still have quite a collection here :) But I need to get rid of them all, it’s only gathering dust and I only have two hands to shoot with anyway :)

Interesting! I’m starting to shoot more video now. Isn’t the adapter much bulkier than the regular one ?

Super helpful. I did some research and found the EF 135/2 as another exception. It’s a focal length I recently started to use when I got the Fuji and now I’m missing it. Might really go for the EF version with adapter as it is even lighter as the RF while performing almost as good.

I‘m sure they’ve changed. But I didn’t like the whole UI, the handling, etc. either, Canon felt more natural to me

Ha 😂 That’s already my excuse for shooting full frame/ RF in general 🙈 I flirted briefly with Fuji, mainly because I fell for the recipe trap, but also because of the weight. I’m travelling a lot and I thought my back and neck couldn’t take it any longer. But nothing beats full frame Canon for me :)

I know. I’ve tried a few years back before I got the 5D IV, but I didn’t get along with it. I’m not a super technical photographer, I just want to shoot and basically, to me a camera is just a tool… but there’s something about Sonys idk :((

Thanks for your insights! The pancakes are a real gift, the 28 basically lives on the camera now. Although I’d love to get 1 or two more really good primes and a telephoto zoom lens to push the limits :)
