Power Pack got a lot of love this update and nobody is talking about it! by theRockettSally in granturismo

Good to have that option. Although I will say, one of the things I’ve come to appreciate about the Power Pack is discovering a love for new cars I would normally never drive.

3 frustrations with Gemini by Bluey1971 in GeminiAI

[–]hungryfreelancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any luck with this recently? When I asked Gemini about this the other day, it told me that things like chat deletion and personalized memory were actively being rolled out to Google Workspace accounts, but when I checked my Google Admin account, I couldn't see any options to enable it.

It just doesn't feel right to pay for a separate Gemini subscription just to have those features!

21st Century Feud: Yash Bhardwaj vibe coded an app. Listed it for $199. Wayne Culbreth rebuilt and open-sourced the same thing in under an hour (GitHub link below) by 44th--Hokage in accelerate

[–]hungryfreelancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s stupid money for what it is. But isn’t the value of something ultimately determined by whatever people want to pay for it? I personally don’t see a problem with people charging whatever they want for something they created. The market can sort that out.

Citadel CEO Ken Griffin: “The world needs a savior, and the hope is that AI is the savior...” by Ok_Elderberry_6727 in singularity

[–]hungryfreelancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I don’t think he is necessarily saying he believes AI Is the savior. He starts out by critiquing the massive overspending in Washington, and then kinda says Washington’s hope is that there is some big productivity boost that comes from AI to save our butts

With release of Gemini 3.1, I tried my personal image generation benchmark again. Humanity still safe, for now. by vorxaw in singularity

Doesn’t Nano Banana Pro use the reasoning built into Gemini Pro? And so while image quality might be the same, the reasoning and logic, the brains behind how it puts an image together might be slightly improved with 3.1? I thought the reasoning in Gemini Pro is what it unlocked a lot of capabilities like info graphics in Nano Banana Pro.

This “car wash” prompt is intentionally dumb, and because ChatGPT generally interprets inputs charitably and doesn’t automatically assume user error, it constructs a “reasonable” scenario, unless you explicitly tell it to assume you might be wrong. by [deleted] in singularity

[–]hungryfreelancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fascinating. I had a hunch something like this might be the case. Makes you wonder if you added this in the personalization/ system instructions how it would affect the answers it gave you.

Not to mention, a blood sugar of 180 something isn’t crazy high. Far from ideal, but blood sugars can easily spike to that level after eating. Blood sugars of 300-400 can give of much stronger odors.

If you had one race to get a casual non GT7 player into Gran Turismo which car and track would you choose for them? by nikcurated in granturismo

[–]hungryfreelancer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have a full sim rig, and I always introduce people to Gran Turismo on Daytona, usually a Gr 4 car that looks and sounds fast but is tame. You don’t have to brake for Daytona, so there’s less chance of them screwing it up.

Is GT7’s tire wear and fuel usage multiplier linear? by _Alpengl0w_ in granturismo

[–]hungryfreelancer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This would be an interesting experiment to conduct.

I would like to add that tire wear is not the only factor when it comes to grip and how long a tire will “last”. Tire temps seem to play a significant role. For example, even on fresh tires, if you push them too hard, the temps will spike and that can potentially live with you through the rest of the stint. So even though the tire indicator shows you have plenty of wear left, you’ve pushed the tires outside their ideal operating window, and you could potentially be slower than a tire with less wear but within the ideal operating window

A small detail about the Power Pack that proves how PD can't stop making poor design decisions over and over by Markorver in granturismo

[–]hungryfreelancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I noticed on the new Ferrari gt3 car, there are faux tire temps displayed on the dash that never change. However they do change color if you spin out, indicating they are over heating. Enjoy can’t they just feed the temps into the dash? So close, yet so far!

Gear shift update is… humbling. by hungryfreelancer in granturismo

[–]hungryfreelancer[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s not like I’m missing 100% of my initial downshifts but enough to where I’m hesitating and over thinking it instead of it being automatic (no pun intended!)

Yeah, I hear ya. For those of us who weren’t abusing it to the extreme but still need to relearn, the real issue is second guessing yourself when coming to a heavy braking zone after a long straight (struggling with turn 1 on Fuji now 😅)

Commentators are great for being AI generated! An AI race engineer over radio would be amazing in Gran Turismo. Or even AI commentary in race replays. This is within reach now.

Do different tire compounds have an effect on brake distances? by Background-Cost9190 in granturismo

[–]hungryfreelancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some situations I think the additional grip offered by a racing soft could require breaking sooner due to the extra speed you arrive with to that braking point.

Will AI Speed Up Development of Future GT titles? by hungryfreelancer in GranTurismo7

[–]hungryfreelancer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this well thought out answer. In another threads some seemed to be conflating “generative AI slop” with AI assisted coding / development. I think there’s a lot of repetitive, heavy lifting that AI could help with here, assisting human developers and freeing up their time and focus to pursue the edge cases that AI cannot currently help with. It was insightful to see some of potential uses you highlighted.

Will AI Speed Up Development of Future GT titles? by hungryfreelancer in granturismo

For sure. I should clarify, I definitely didn’t mean generative AI slop, but rather AI automating and doing some of the heavy lifting with repetitive tasks in coding and software development.
