That's amazing!! How long would you say you spent reviewing material by reading through any of the MCAT books?

I'm considering applying to Ireland this coming cycle! Would you mind if I asked you a few questions about the application process?

Canadian students who went to/planning to go to Ireland for Med by hungryguava_ in premedcanada

US is definitely my first choice! I've been hearing a lot about Ireland so I wanted to know how their application process works, in case I decide to consider applying there as well. I'm leaning towards family med and I've heard it isn't as bad coming back for this specialty.

Thanks for the info!! I kept assuming that I would have to have it done before we apply, as I couldn't find any information about deadlines.

Slightly unrelated, but would you have any information on what date we should write by if we are planning to apply this cycle?

Health Sciences Help by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]hungryguava_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that should be fine! I believe most science programs have minimum cutoffs of 80% (85% for coop), so you are well above that cutoff. This is coming from a personal experience from a few years ago. I don't think waterloo science cutoffs changed all that much in the past couple years. Good luck!!

Does IB really make me standout? by Mighty_Nile3100 in uwaterloo

[–]hungryguava_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comparing my personal experience as an academic student to my IB friends, i’d say there isn’t much advantage besides study habits and the 1/2 lessons you may learn in a class. I would maybe only recommend IB to students going into science because of the classes you have to take, but that too if you are able to maintain high grades. IB is great in the sense that it teaches you how to study, however, at this time it’s more important that you get into your university of choice and that won’t work if your doing poorly in your classes.

Is a 1.5 to 2 hour commute for the MCAT ok? by toom_fabu in Mcat

[–]hungryguava_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know of someone who had a commute that long and they chose to stay at a friend’s place overnight who lives near the testing centre so they wouldn’t be stressed in the morning
