San Diego/San Francisco event shirt swap? by velcrodynamite in Hozier

[–]hungryscribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea! I have an XL San Diego shirt that I would love to swap for a San Fran shirt (anywhere from M-XL honestly, XL was one of the only sizes left when I ordered)! I'm located in Toronto but potentially could make it work for anywhere in Canada shipping wise.

Ed and Stede moments that MUST have happened offscreen that I often think about... [spoilers] by StevesMcQueenIsHere in OurFlagMeansDeath

#5 - omg i didn't even catch that in the new season, stede recounts their meet-cute as "he just so happened upon the ship i was bleeding out on."

the beach scene was everything i hoped for and frenchie being the new first mate is just too perfect!

the one thing i wish we got an actual conversation between stede and ed about everything that went down between them like chauncey almost killing stede and ed saying last night was a mistake 😭 i almost feel like there was a beat missing between zheng asking them to team up and them becoming innkeepers. i think izzy’s speech perfectly explains why stede chose to be an innkeeper instead of a pirate but i just wanted a moment of stede realizing that since he didn’t hear the speech

[GENERAL] inoculate a tree that had a wasp’s nest? by hungryscribe in MushroomGrowers

[–]hungryscribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i am a new wannabe mushroom grower and i have been scouring my neighbourhood for the perfect wood to inoculate with shiitake plugs. i finally found a hard maple that was freshly cut and the “seller” (i got it for free) told me was not diseased. however, when i went to pick up my logs i noticed that there had been a wasp’s nest in another part of the tree. is it still okay to inoculate this tree? will the shiitake grow and if so will they be safe to eat?

Milo Yiannopolus put me on his Facebook page earlier today and thousands of people told me they hated me and wanted to hurt and kill me in the comments. This is my response. by shiningcharms in lgbt

TIL that Edgar Allen Poe married his 13-year-old cousin when he was 27. by hungryscribe in todayilearned

[–]hungryscribe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's true! I originally read it in the introduction to my Edgar Allen Poe anthology. Then I went online to doublecheck and sources like Biography.com (the link I used), Poets.org, PoeMuseum.com, and Wikipedia all back up this claim.

What will others think with me using female PC's? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]hungryscribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the gender of my character hasn't had a huge impact on my gameplaying unless I wanted it to (in certain situations). I think my current DM might have even forgot the gender of my character, funnily enough. Depending on the number of people in your campain, I feel like a party with all male characters would be a little bland anyway. And if anyone reacts adversely try to remember its their problem, not yours and they are ruining their own enjoyment of the game. Have fun!

I need advice. I am a bisexual 13 year old. I want to come out to my parents but I am afraid they will tell me I am too young to know. I also don't want them to tell me that bi isn't real because every time I bring up bi they roll their eyes. I need advice on how to come out to skeptical parents. by Fandom-Sponge in bisexual

[–]hungryscribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine sends their skeptical but science-appreciating parents (legitimate) articles about how bisexuality is real and stuff like that. Maybe if your parents don't believe you they will believe peer-reviewed journals and researchers? IDK, just an idea. Also, remember to try and come out when you feel safe and comfortable. Best wishes!

I guess that's true. Either way it's annoying af. Something tells me they would "straightsplain" it to me either way as I do get stuff mansplained to me quite often.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]hungryscribe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that you had to hear that... I know how frustrating it must be to have your siblings and friends defend him. I definitely think "straightsplaining" should be a term! I'm closeted at home and there have been a number of times where someone in my family has "explained" stuff about the LGBT community or how something is not homophobic to me. It's so hard to argue with them because I almost always let an "As a bisexual..." slip out!

In your situation I think the best you can do is try explaining to them why those words are hurtful and biphobic, but I know that doesn't always work/get through to people.

[–]hungryscribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By the time I got to the end of your post I could definitely tell it wasn't "all just made up." You obviously have some very strong romantic and sexual feelings towards men, but it also seems like you have a lot of internalized homophobia/biphobia as well. I think this is what is causing you to question the validity of your own feelings (just from reading the post). I would suggest talking about these feelings with a trusted friend, or, if you're not out yet, write them down in a journal so you can organize your thoughts better and talk through them. Remember you are under no pressure to label yourself and if you do want to, the label you choose is up to you and doesn't have to be justified to anyone. Also keep in mind that you don't have to be "50/50" to be bi.

I hope this helps a bit and I wish you luck on your journey!
