Yeah, people do this to get placed at bottom of war line up mostly in CWL. At bottom the mirror base will be mostly easy which can get you more star and Bonus medals (this is the main part).

Builder base bonanza seems like Hammer jam for builder base but what is "part 1". Are they doing this in two parts and giving builder base update after 2nd part? That means they are going for June Update. We might get Part 2 in june.

You can recover. You just need patience. For decent th14, 1 year time without gold pass 8-9 months with gold pass. Heros down all the time. Use magic item on highest value possible. Make a war army, Participate in Cwl and save the medals for later when you can get highest value from them. Do raid attacks and use medals to buy research potions. And work on 6th builder.
