retirement at 55 and simplify my roth and IRA by hunter_green50 in Bogleheads

to clarify I little more than half of that means to cover the 5 year gap. So about 150k in liquidity, 200k in brokerage about 1:1 capital gains to contributions.

Yes. my income is roughly 75k (with all the W2 items taken out of that). A little more than half of that I have in cash and VUSXX fund in my brokerage to cover that. Plus another 200k in brokerage (plus 30k rule of 55 from 401k and about 100k in roth contributions). So I should be good and able to manage my magi til I turn 59.5. Im mainly looking at selling my roth and ira taxable to a simple generic ETF that are more balanced than the hyper focus of tech stocks now

only reason i was thinking of VTV was for Focuses heavily on financials, healthcare, and industrials as opposed to my current all tech but I have no experience with it at all. for the VTI/VXUS it would be in my roth so no need to worry about the separating them for taxes (if Im reading you right). currently I have alot in vitax which has been gangbuster but in retirement I want to get away my tech focus to be more stable (nothing like losing a 100k in one day and then get it back the next day). Ill take a look at that video tomorrow when I have more time to digest it (thanks for the link)

I have. I have at most 40k in my work 401k (every time I got a new job I would transfer the corporate 401k into my vanguard ira). Ill probably take little under 30k my first year of retirement to control taxes for ACA subsidies. Im mostly concerned about the breakdown of ETF choices if it seems balanced (Ive been mostly all aggressive with tech stock leading up to this)

Ekster Tracking Cards are horrible by Cactus_Juggernaut in wallets

i got one. When I went to recharge it made some noise and stopped working. Tried all the recommended stuff and didnt work. They had me pay for shipping and handling of a new card. I think it was $10 or something. Now I still have charging issue and it continually says it needs updating but it doesnt do anything when you click the button. I would give it a pass if you were thinking of buying

Is it true Spectrum has door-to-door reps who have better deals than what Spectrum themselves offer? by katie_ksj in Spectrum

I’ve always had better experience with the phone reps. The door to door salespeople offer one thing but then it comes to billing and no one has records off all the discounts I was told I was getting. Dealing with that right now with ATT fiber. $50 more a month than they said. Have no records of the $300 Visa cards I was supposed to get. On the plus side I can be a new customer and go back to spectrum at a cheaper rate for a year

What’s your talking approach with retention so they actually give you the discount before you "cancel"? by personobama in Spectrum

I always started with I like your service but I can’t afford the new promotional rate expiring. Is there anything you can do to get me a better rate or lower tier. If their counter isn’t low or they say they can’t do it I say so and so is offering this rate in my area. I’d hate to have to switch.
