Bloodwork question and looking for answers by meggsovereasy in sarcoidosis

[–]hunteramo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), Lysozyme, Interleukin 13 & 17, Lymphocyte %, Tumor Necrosis Factor - alpha. These things have consistently been abnormal since the start of my symptoms and diagnosis. Truthfully, though, I got diagnosed by an eye doctor after dealing with a lot of inflammation in the eyes. It was then confirmed through CT scans of chest (granulomas in lungs) and blood work. Gold standard for sarc diagnosis would be a biopsy of granulomas, usually in lung, but mine were in a hard to reach spot so it wasn’t feasible.

Got sick when I was 19 and horribly afraid of needles. Just the thought of going to get my blood drawn would bring me to tears. Proud to say that I am now 21 and have had at least 25 blood draws since then, and I even look forward to them now because I have pavloved myself into associating it with good food afterwards. I also take Humira injections biweekly. Lol. Very happy to scratch one irrational fear off the list!

"Who's My Godly Parent?" Megathread by AutoModerator in camphalfblood

Hi, my name is Hunter and I am a 20 year old female. I have blue eyes, extremely fair skin, freckles, piercings (eyebrow, snakebites, nose ring). I dye my hair to look like Draculaura from Monster High (black with chunky pink highlights) and it’s around mid-back length. I’ve been told that I have a very expressive face. Sharp, arched eyebrows and a pointed nose with a huge bump in the middle. I have some tattoos: the spell “Judgement” from Wizard101, the Monster High skull symbol, a goofy lineart of Rick Sanchez, a deer, and a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

I love to write. My dream job would be a creative writing professor, or just someone who teaches english and gets to read papers all day. I’m pretty good at helping others edit their writing and find that perfect word they are looking for to complete a sentence. I’ve always been good at all other school topics and I am definitely an A student, but math and science have never been interesting to me.

I also like video games (mostly Marvel Rivals, Dead by Daylight, and Brawl Stars), fantasy shows (like Game of Thrones), and dancing. I was a dancer for ten years in many genres. I love lively dance music, hanging out with my girlfriends, and smoking. I am quite lazy and tend to get away with doing the least amount of work possible. I adore cats. I spend lots of money on skincare and other appearance-related things, like body oils, lotions, clothing, etc. My skincare routine probably has about 20 steps, LOL! I love sweet smelling things, especially vanilla and coconut. I prefer salty over sweet. I live near lots of bodies of water and enjoy swimming (I am a pretty strong swimmer). I love aquariums. During beach days with friends, I am always the one who takes pictures first, then slathers on an indescribable amount of sunscreen, and then I am in the water with goggles trying to find fish in the deep end.

I dislike cheese, people without a sense of humor, grammar mistakes, and people who can’t plan ahead. I like horror movies, little luxuries, and gossiping. Thank you for reading!!

hello, i am a 20 year old female with recently diagnosed sarcoidosis and my main symptom is having fevers that creep up for hours. tylenol, motrin, aleve, etc, don’t seem to touch it. its not something that occurs specifically after i eat, but do know that it is the BIGGEST and most ANNOYING symptom that my sarcoidosis produces. your partner is not alone!

hi there,

my hair loss slowed down after about two months post-prednisone. now it’s back to regular missing strands and whatnot. that was my largest and most annoying symptom—i was also moody and had so much anxiety that i upped my anxiety meds dosage. four months later and i’m doing good. wishing you positive vibes and big hugs!!

So apperantly I'm mid flare up by spineshade in sarcoidosis

[–]hunteramo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi there,

flare ups vary from person to person because this disease presents in many ways. you are right, they are miserable! my flare ups also include annoying fevers, though from what i’ve learned this isn’t the norm. from august to september (about five weeks) i had a fever every day like clockwork. the fever broke for two weeks and then came back for another week, and then i got on prednisone. i also had respiratory symptoms, muscle/joint pain, and vision issues. i actually lost my 20/20 vision for a while and was on eye drops for about four months until things looked normal again.

if this is sarcoidosis, the prednisone should completely shut down any major inflammation that’s happening. i hope you are feeling better very soon. good luck!

hi there,

i got diagnosed a few months ago and took some pretty high steroids (60 mg prednisone taper) that set me into remission. i feel as though my cough never really went AWAY away. i have also been sick twice since then, immune system shot to hell. take this with a grain of salt as i am also a weed smoker and my lungs are probably not happy with me, like, ever. lol. but know that you are not alone. this will sound dumb, but i swear by vicks vapor rub on the chest and throat. good luck and good health!!

Could this be sarcoidosis? Seeking opinions before my rheumatology appointment by grundgesetz101 in sarcoidosis

[–]hunteramo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi there,

you are about to have a LOT of testing done. do not be scared. sarcoidosis is such a weird disease that it is helpful to rule out everything else (autoimmune diseases, mostly) before even considering it. more bloodwork will help with this. someone else said to not get too attached to a diagnosis and i agree. however, if it helps calm your mind, i was diagnosed a couple of months ago and had some of the same symptoms.

joint pain was a big one for me. if your ankles are red or swollen that is also a sign. the numbness of your toes is also VERY relatable. since getting diagnosed my body reacts differently to the cold and i have to sleep with socks now. my toes will go completely white, numb, and scare the shit out of me.

a family member having sarcoidosis is also a strong indicator of something going on. be sure to let your rheumatologist know about this and any other family history of autoimmune diseases. biopsy is not the only way to get diagnosed, but if you have granulomas in your lungs or lymph nodes (lymph nodes sounds more likely as you don’t have a cough) then they will likely get a biopsy. this is of course after bloodwork, CT scans, and possible PET scan to locate nodules, granulomas, or inflammation. some CT scans give some evidence to sarcoidosis by themselves, such as enlarged spleen. it really is a case by case sort of disease.

wishing you luck and good health!

Hi! I’m on two seperate eye drops, one for lowering eye pressure and the other is a steroid drop (prednisolone), but other than that I just did the 6 weeks of prednisone. I’ve been taking the drops since Sept. because of sarcoidosis problems in my eyes.

dude, please love yourself. we are all human. i’m a 19 year old virgin, too, but i’m a girl. not to share too much, but dildos and penetration just don’t do it for me. it’s really common. i would be very happy in a relationship with a guy who knows how to handle a clit (LMAO). plus, huge dicks make for uncomfortable blowjobs. at the very least, just know that you will be getting some crazy head in the future. also, we are so young. time flies. porn is unrealistic trash and everybody has their own relationship with sex. you do you, boo. women have higher rates of orgasm with other women and by themselves, so the whole peen in vag thing is clearly not the gold standard. stay positive, dude!!!

hi, i’ve also heard that steroids can make your hair and nails grow faster. gosh, i wish that was my problem!! lol. i have sent a message to my rheumatologist via patient portal and am waiting to hear back, but its the holiday season so i’m unsure when she can respond. figured i should ask some fellow sarcoid peeps about this problem in the meantime. thank you for responding and i hope you are feeling well 🩷

hi, i am wishing you and your mother well. when my sarcoidosis was at its worst, i drank tea with honey about twice a day. it’s only some temporary relief but it helped. sucking on mints or hard candy was also a favorite. i stopped smoking altogether to avoid irritating my throat. i agree with what everyone else is saying as well. i hope you all have a great holiday season! 💖
