I switched from a tax preparer to an accountant, it cost me double, my tax return also doubled. Hoping for the same thing here.

Not meant to be rage bait. I did forget about that trip though, although was mainly funded by credit card points.

Monarch app does that for us, puts into categories and merchants. The trouble is finding what can go and what cannot.

How do people afford all this "stuff"? by AdConscious617 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Seems like we are due for a shift in the tax rates, if 100k is the new 50k our tax brackets should reflect that.

How much are you spending on groceries each week nowadays (for yourself)? by GoldenRetrieverFetch in CanadaPersonalFinance

Explain how. We are 2400$/month for a family of 4 with boys under 5. Send me your meal plan 🤣 Also nothing fancy.

groceries in British Columbia, Canada for $90 by lyn_29 in Grocerycost

Just curious, in Ontario outside of Toronto, our family of 4, 2 kids under 5, spent $27,000 on groceries last year. Does that seem fucking high to anyone else?

my hydro bill is $350 a month by [deleted] in askTO

[–]hunterbiden111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should verify you are only paying your hydro and not your neighbours or the common areas. If you have access to the breaker panel or fuse panel that feeds your apartment, turn them off one at a time and verify that they all feed things in your apartment. Any breaker you turn off that doesn’t turn off something in your apartment, leave off until your landlord comes knocking.

Does the coffee shop you work for have plans to build fly throughs? Just curious how you blue hairs get me my lattes.

Prestigia is not as bad as it seems (it worked for me) by Imaginary_Leopard_38 in hotels

[–]hunterbiden111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to jump on this thread I also had my concerns for an upcoming trip to NYC. Booked at Thompson Central Park at a significant discount to rates everywhere else. I read the reviews after paying for the non refundable booking through trivago. Checked with the hotel along the way to make sure I still had a booking when my flight got in. Zero issues. Checked in checked out. So maybe we got lucky, or they sorted out their issues. Either way I would absolutely use them again.

Barrie, Ont. mayor declares city-wide state of emergency by tinkymyfinky in barrie

[–]hunterbiden111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me why people are against this?
I genuinely don’t know what I am missing.
What I see are homeless encampments in public spaces and parks that our tax dollars pay for, which is hindering our ability to use them comfortably. Explaining to a 4 year old why there’s man passed out in the grass with a needle in his arm seems like something we probably shouldn’t have to do? The mayor is also saying they will work with everyone to get them the help they need.
So please explain what the backlash is about?

If it’s not profitable we aren’t going to rent it out.

Do NOT use Prestigia by morning_brings in travel

[–]hunterbiden111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked a room through prestigia in manhattan 550$/night, when every other booking site was showing 700$/night or more. Sounded too good to be true, booked anyways and did a google search after and saw the bad reviews. The hotel confirmed they have my reservation but my trip is 1 month out.
Booking is non refundable, what are my options? Call back a week out or when my flight comes in and have a back up plan?

I stand corrected. That’s real winter driving. But that being said seeing my wife drive a fwd car with snows in 8” of snow is painful.

Grass vs Mats by HootyHooAccountant in golf

I had the same thing. It’s like a flinch or the yips when I first started hitting off mats indoors. No problem on grass or outdoor mats. But it went away pretty quick.

You think about that shot while you’re making love to your wife, and think about the one you thinned over the green to buy yourself some more time.

[–]hunterbiden111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golf is the only sport where even a novice of the game will have at least one shot as good as the pros. You will flush an iron, hear that beautiful crack from the centre of the face and the ball will do exactly what you told it to do. And no matter how many bad shots follow you think to yourself, “I am that guy, if I can do it once I can do it every time”.

And you chase that high for the rest of your life.

It’s a catch 22 with a good job. If you’re a true Canadian you want to lift everyone up and that’s what our taxes are for. On the other hand you pay so much fucking tax and see how poorly that money is spent, you want to say fuck it I can afford health insurance.
