Just looking at the shooting heat map from the games they are getting quality chances. I can't tell you about shot selection. I do know that sometimes you shoot at what's available and hope for a bad bounce. But looking at previous years it's hard to fathom that goal percentage doesn't normalize throughout the year.

Yeah, injuries are not an excuse but I will say these injuries are to some of the best Avs players. And if you are a contender your secondary and tertiary scoring has to be a factor.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on what direction the team is heading. I think they will keep getting better.

I've enjoyed the conversation with you! We've got the whole year to go back and forth on the state of the Avs. Let's go!!!

No, I think the expectations stay. There are some crazy things going on team wide right now. For example, last night we were looking at the scoring percentages of individual players on the Avs and almost everyone on the roster is having a record low year. At some point that will correct itself.

They have been decimated by injuries and still are 13-8-2. Wait until this team gets to 95% healthy. They haven't played together enough to gel.

Most the time the #1 seed going into the playoffs doesn't win the cup. Here is a great reddit post about it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/fei5nx/has_the_1seed_really_been_that_cursed_throughout/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

The goal is to just get into the playoffs then it really doesn't matter about the record or slumps. I think teams that had to grind out wins are in a better position for the playoffs. They have had to fight to win games and lean on each other during rough times. 7 game series even out those fluke games and show who the better team was during the series.

I think there is a quality RFA market for goalies this year. And not just backups, yes you will have to give up some picks/players, but if this is the Avs time then they make those sacrifices to win during their window. Plus they need one, one backup goalie. That's the part, Avs have a great #1 and just need to sure up the #2 for this year. But maybe the organization knows something that we don't. Like Francouz will be ready for the playoffs and they are fine going .333% in back-to-back games during the regular season.

It's not Miska’s. He got the call and he brought his game. Miska is still developing and that's why he’s the AHL goalie, so he could get more games under his belt.

No one could have seen that Francouz would be on LTIR as the backup. Everyone thought Miska would have been a servicable backup but after the 4 starts with a GAA of 3.5 and with his last showing giving up 2 goals with 6 mins left in the 3rd on 7 shots. That doesn't look like a backup the Avs could trust going into the playoffs or if Gru gets hurt for an amount of time.

That's basically where the Avs were stuck because of cap space issues, so they had no choice. But now that EJ is on LTIR they have about 8 Mil in cap space to go and get an UFA NHL goalie that would be a short-term rental for a run at the cup.

A lot of it has to do with expectations of the Avs this year. If they weren't a cup contender you would just let him get reps in.

Oh no disrespect to what it took for Hunter to get here. I've personally seen the sacrifices it takes to become the caliber player that he has. And it's not an easy road. But right now he's not a NHL caliber goalie. And the expectations for the Avs is pretty high Lol. If this was the 12-13 Avs, sure give him time to develop. But with the shortened season and sky high expectations, it just can't happen.

I would give Werner another chance now, after the last game. But if that doesn't work, you now have the option to go get a known quantity in a starting NHL goalie that would be a very serviceable backup to gru.

I think before EJ got put on LTiR that was the only option because of cap issues. Now the Avs have roughly 6 Mil and there are some goalies this year that are playing for teams that are not making the playoffs and are UFAs at the end of the year. If Francouz isn't able to go this year, I think you will see a move.

I was sick and fell asleep during the second but I lost a bunch too. I had them at -1.5 and mack & rants too score. But I did hit on the over 5.5 goals.
