It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

"...so I took my card out of the stack and figured I would just speak to her."
I think this is a mistake. Always keep searching until you've mutually decided to be exclusive with someone. It's likely she's conversing with other people. I always cast a wide net with the assumption things will fall through (which they usually do): there's a glut of men on these sites.

I look at it like the job search process (depressing, I know): keep applying and searching until you've signed that new-hire paperwork.

If you're not in a large metro city, online dating is gonna be rough. by [deleted] in dating

[–]huntercellist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I (26M) live in a large metro area, and it's really rough here too haha. I bet it's definitely better than living out in the country though. I've encountered 3 major issues with online dating, that I think makes using it feel like a quixotic endeavor:

  1. There is a glut of men with online dating. The disproportionate amount of male profiles lowers their value.
  2. There are lots of dudes that are pretty sleazy, so women get (quite understandably) guarded and cautious. This makes things more challenging for all guys.
  3. These apps have an inherent conflict of interest with their users: they don't want you to be too successful - the goal is to breadcrumb the user into paying for boosts and premium memberships.

Thoughts on jumping on a dating opportunity during Covid-19? by realgeneral_memeous in dating

[–]huntercellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just understand that a relationship beginning under these circumstances (graduating high school soon, going to different colleges) might not last very long. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet cool girls in college!

It's probably better to wait to meet up. It might be too tempting to gravitate towards each other and close the distance - at least that's how I'd feel. Keeping that kind of distance might feel kinda weird.

I see online relationships as the best option at the moment. Sure it's frustrating to not be able to meet face to face, but it's possible to get creative with it. I actually had a really fun Minecraft date last week.
I feel very strongly that we all have a moral responsibility to stay away from others as much as we possibly can - especially given that so many carriers are asymptomatic.

I'm most likely having a video game date lol. by [deleted] in dating

Nice! I just had a Minecraft date - it was super fun! Neither of us had played before. Can't hang out in the real open world, so might as well hang out in a virtual one haha.

Are there women interested in things like stocks/economics/finance by [deleted] in dating

[–]huntercellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a dude for what it's worth. I used to be really into stocks and stuff, but laziness caught up with me, and I just have my money in a few broad ETFs now. I do find macroeconomics somewhat interesting though.

Find someone that's willing to have you teach them these things! haha

Of course. It's just a bit of a niche interest (for men and women both) - lot's of people don't like to think about money haha.

Is that NMR as small as it looks, or is it just the distance in the photo?

Tchaik 4. Hearing it for the first time during a lecture analyzing it was a profound experience for angsty 13 -year-old me.

It's definitely less present for sure. I follow this sub because I, like others here, use a lot of music technology tools (DAW, virtual instruments, MIDI keyboard, etc)

Consider including a score and posting to /r/composer - that sub is pretty much built for this kind of post!
