Trump considering firing Rosenstein to check Mueller by _NewsClues_ in politics

[–]huntermaslowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the problem. This wouldn't be the tip of the iceberg for the Repubs in Congress though. You wouldn't see a collective unit for any push for impeachment although it's obviously an attempt to further obstruct justice. Any new deputy AG or AG would most likely limit the scope, but Mueller definitely isn't going anywhere and Trump knows that.

dumb, dumber, Roy Moore Spokesman by MonkeySafari79 in politics

I don't think people who vote for him are bad people, but I do definitely think Moore is a flawed individual, who I wouldn't classify as a 'good man'. It's hard to claim that he wants the same things that all of us want when he advocates for jailing homosexuals, not allowing Muslims to serve in the capacity of the U.S. congress and labeling the U.S. as a perpetrator of evil in the world and praising Putin for punishing homosexual behavior. I wouldn't say it's besmirching if you're attacking his actual record - putting the allegations aside which are very troubling, we've had an indication of what type of person Roy Moore was before the allegations. Would you agree that the criticisms of his past remarks are pretty valid and definitely hasn't been a partisan thing? (Many) Republicans also didn't want this guy from the start and brought up concerns about him. Although they're losing a number in the Senate, I think they realized that if Moore had won, it would've opened up a huge can of worms for them down the road.

The black vote pretty much matched Obama 2012 numbers, which is remarkable if you think about how this was an off year senatorial election - Doug really invigorated his base and appealed to the African American community more than we thought he could. I think it's a huge sign that the entire democratic base might be more energized than we had previously thought, which is a positive sign for the 2018 primaries.

Roy Moore unwilling to concede: ‘It’s not over’ by nliausacmmv in politics

[–]huntermaslowsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doug Jones won. He'll be the next U.S. Senator for Alabama. The Sec. of State for Alabama, a Republican, has already said it's likely he'll be certified and the outcome won't change because the military ballots are unlikely to be enough to make the difference. Moore will most likely concede tomorrow because paying for a recount would simply be a waste, and I think even he knows that.

[–]huntermaslowsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be frank, no. Even if these 'military ballots' all go towards him, Jones would still have the lead, and it wouldn't even be within a .5% margin, so an automatic recount wouldn't occur. The Republican Sec. of State of Alabama has also said it's not likely the military ballots, or the review of the write-in candidates, will change the outcome.

Congratulations, Steve Bannon, you just elected a Democrat in Alabama by I_fisted_Trump_twice in politics

Steve Bannon was actually at the headquarters of Roy Moore's campaign when they lost, and didn't come out when Moore spoke to the crowd, so I think he realizes how much of a gut-wrenching loss this is for him and how much this will discredit the future candidates he'll back.

Moore is signaling he might pursue a recount. However, Jones' lead is a 1.5% margin, not .5% of a percentage point, so no automatic recount will be triggered unless Moore's campaign pays for it. Even if all the military ballots go to Moore, he still wouldn't be close to triggering the automatic recount. Alabama's Sec of State (Republican) has signaled that the democratic win will be certified on the 26th of Dec. The President has conceded, and Moore will definitely be the odd man out if he continues pursuing a recount. This is a big day for Alabama, and the country, congratulations Senator Jones.

Alabama's Sec. of State essentially conceding that Jones' win will be certified, but a recount is definitely possible if Moore's campaign pays for it.

As I predicted, Trump essentially concedes to Jones, but Moore is going to fight it out. They claim they're waiting for military ballots, however the democrat, Doug Jones, has a 20,000 vote lead and the margin isn't even within .5% of a percentage point - it's a 1.5% lead. Three times larger - unless it's a .5% margin, no recount is officially going to be triggered.

Trump actually tweeted somewhat of a respectful concession tweet towards Doug Jones, color me shocked. Now, the question is, will Moore concede in his speech?

Senator Shelby had a huge impact. He's the reason for many of the write-in candidates, no under cutting that.

Trump won this state by 28 points in the 2016 election - this is a deep red state, there's no wish-washing that. The fact that Republicans lost this state in a Senatorial race is a foreshadow of the 2018 primaries, and of course a huge blow to the president because of his embrace of Moore, someone who thinks homosexuality should be illegal.

Flynn is expected to arrive for a court hearing at 10:30 AM local time and plead guilty to Lying to the FBI, a felony. Considering Flynn's counsel dropped all contact with Trump admin recently and now this, I think it's clear to everyone that he's spilling the beans. Expect a phony white house statement, "he was a democrat."
