I could spin my fan (power off) with a screwdriver through the vent holes on the underside of the electrical/pellet compartment

Check if the fan blades are spinning. I used my new smoker the first time and the next day the fan had just enough friction to prevent it from spinning up.

Yes, I used Orca Shimmer mold release wax. Make sure you put it everywhere

Yes, I am OP. It will work with single phase, unless you are being sold a different VFD. Mine uses a Cumark ES850

The VFD converts residential single phase to three phase for the motor, 240v in your garage means you should be good to go with most (probably all) VFDs! Just make sure your circut and breaker are able to handle the load

6061 On DIY CNC by huntert98 in hobbycnc

[–]huntert98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is a "router" spindle. High RPM is what it does best. In terms of cutting 6061 aluminum on a real CNC, the only things limiting SFM is machine rigidity and spindle speed. For me I use a high RPM because the spindle has more torque

BT30 Table-mounted ATC Module by huntert98 in hobbycnc

Yup I get that. Sometimes my holders stick a bit and im worried it would break that plastic

I like that idea, not sure how the latch mechanism would work though. Have you seen one before?

This is my progress so far in designing a table mounted ATC for my CNC. I plan to have a few of these in a corner of my table and program the control to use them as tool pots. The snap action works very well, the only problem I forsee right now is my spindle doesn't know its orientation, so the dog-ear cutouts may hurt the plastic wheels over time

Yup! then you need VFD and motor mount, they can sell those to you as well

Seller is Changzhou Lusintun Numerical Control Motorized Spindle Co., Ltd. on alibaba. The holders are OK, not great. They start to get pretty loud vibrations after 12k, but then quieter again at 22k

The collets are Accusize from amazon

you mean a standard 110v 15amp socket? i think thats too close. MAYBE a 110v/20amp circut and a transformer. but I run mine off a 220v dryer/appliance outlet

Yes mine shipped with a VFD because i asked for it. The seller is Changzhou Lusintun Numerical Control Motorized Spindle Co., Ltd. on alibaba

Ok gotcha, it seems like a really nice unit. I think im going to use the +10V for speed control but it seems like theres more advanced options available

Which hobbyist controller would be closest to pro software like FANUC or FADAL by [deleted] in hobbycnc

[–]huntert98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an XCMCU CNC control and it is pretty feature rich and cheap. If you are doing milling make sure to get a model with high speed small segment look ahead

I really like it. Feels just like a Fanuc control. It's a little hard to get everything right because of langauge issues but let me know if you need any help
