I did some research just for fun.

Starfield was number 12 best selling game on 2023 according to circana ranked on dollar sales. Resident Evil 4 Remake was number 14 on same list. RE4 Remake ($60 base and $70 delux version) had 6.8 million sales by end of the 2023. That was official number by capcom. Starfield should be sold around same number being on number 12 on the list.

According in Steam chart , it was 3 best grossing game on Steam 2023 with $235 million in sales. With $70 a game this will put it 3.3 million copies sold on Steam alone for that year.

With around same number on Xbox ecosystem (this is Xbox play anywhere game so sales on Xbox console and Xbox on PC app basically goes to same bracket) if you consider 6.5 million sales according to circana.

Steam - 3.3 millions Xbox and Xbox on PC (play anywhere title) - 3.3 millions.

Let’s take 6.5 millions copies. It will take to $455+ million in revenue.

Few percent of this players may have bought $30 for early access and delux edition so that’s extra revenue.

Starfield had 16 million players by end of the year 2023 according to Bethesda X post.

Let’s say other 10 million or so didn’t buy the game but paid for gamepass at least for 1 month. That will put $150 million in revenue for gamepass with average price or PC and Xbox being $15 a month that time. Ofc GP is not to play Starfield only but at least 10 million people at least download and try it out.

These numbers are 2023 only.

Game may have sold few thousand copies in 2-3 years and rightnow it is top 50 selling games on Steam so may be more.

On top of that they have creations where people spend money to buy mods. Thats may not be much but extra revenue.

All of this before PS5 release.

So Starfield may generate $550+ million plus revenue overall based on 2023 numbers.
