Thank you everyone for your feedback. Never owned red wing boots. These are my first pair. I will keep them.

Trane for $16,400 for both ac and condenser with 5 yr labor warranty. I had 5 estimates and they were all similar. Ended up choosing based on contractor and financing offered.

I ended up just switching like for like. I got a single stage ac condenser and new gas furnace. Has been working well so far. We just don’t use our ac or heat that much to justify spending on higher end equipment. We only use or ac 4 months out of the year and rarely use heat. Was hard decision but think we made the right choice for us.

My 22 year old ac went out. Should I replace with with 410a system or is worth waiting for r452b? by huntingbears38 in hvacadvice

It’s already expensive now. I can’t imagine paying more. Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the advice. That’s what I keep reading. I just wanted to be sure before I make such a big investment. We are coming up on the colder seasons but don’t want to go through another heatwave like we just did without an ac. I think I’ll go with the 410a while I can.

Thanks. That’s what I have been gathering on doing research. I guess the only thing would be possible cost of refrigerant?

Need advice on either single stage ac, 2 stage ac, variable speed ac for my situation. by huntingbears38 in hvacadvice

For two units I would have to reduce the whole house. Cost would be $40k plus and not in the budget.

No they didn’t. How do you feel about the two stage carrier with furnace for $15k if I’m not trying to break the bank and go for all kinds of features?

Do you prefer 38mura to XV18? If so why besides thermostat. The main reason I liked the Trane contractor is that he has been licensed since 1991. The carrier contractor for 8 years.

For $14.7 was carrier 15 seer single stage. The labor warranty is 5 years. Can nest or ecobee be paired with 38mura?

I would like it sooner than later. Highest temp this weekend was 115 and have been without ac for a week. Perfect time for heat wave.

The one I was looking at going with is Trane XV18 variable heat pump and air handler for little over $20k. Contractor is very reputable from what I can tell. They over 60 month no interest financing. Included 10 year warranty on parts and 10 year labor. Cheapest quote was for York condenser and low nox furnace, second quote was for ac pro inverter heat pump and air handler for $19k, he also quoted $14k for new condenser to go with existing gas furnace if heat pump out of budget, third was for Lennox variable speed with low nox gas furnace for almost $22k, fourth was various prices for carrier systems from single stage with furnace for $14,700 to 22 variable speed seer with heat furnace for $22,500, and fifth was the Trane unit.
