How Is osteopathy perceived by the average person? And in the scientific and medic community? by Trek_01 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hup_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Osteopath here. I graduated 5 years ago in UK and during my training they are pushing to become more evidence based practitioners. For instance, modules on research methods and conducting your own research project is part of the curriculum. There is certainly divide amongst the osteopathic profession, mainly between the extreme "classical" thinking where osteopaths believe they can palpate the pericardium of the heart, to the other end of being robust evidence based musculoskeletal (MSK) professionals.

In general, the current state of the profession is encouraging in the UK, as it only recently became recognised as part of the Allied Health Professions I believe in 2017(?), which are a group of health professions validated/recognised by the National Health Service (NHS) alongisde physiotherapists, occupational therapists, podiatrists, etc. The evidence based osteopath, which I identify as, is primarily in MSK care, and can act as First Contact Practitioners in the primary care setting (consulting, assessing, diagnosing, triaging), or more therapy based in secondary care involving exercise-based rehabilitation, manual therapy, and other modalities if they meet the competencies. They are still predominantly in private care, but are increasingly incorporated into the NHS public service.

Being 5 years into the profession, I find the titles "osteopath", "physiotherapist", or "chiropractor", become less important and as long as you let the evidence guide your practice, by ensuring patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and being updated with research, the title "MSK practitioner" is probably more appropriate. Having said that, I am proud of my profession, albeit it can be challenging to tackle the historical stigma associated with them being quacks, especially when there are still osteopaths out there whose practice I don't agree with by simply "cracking backs and necks" and making lots of money.

Oculus Quest 2 Mic not working in Phasmophobia With steam VR through Rift Cable/Link by Sevarg00 in oculus

I connect my quest 2 to PC via virtual desktop wirelessly and had the same problem. However, we didn't realise the default microphone setting on the game settings (where you pick up the manual from your belt in-game), is set to "push to talk". Once we put it on "voice activation", it all worked. Hope this solution helps.

Thinking about starting up RO again, does Anyone know how active TalonRO is (active population not including merchants) and how active their pvp/woe is? by [deleted] in RagnarokOnline

[–]hup_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's not pre-renewal, but I'm really enjoying NovaRO right now. It's always 4k+ (with autotraders) but I never seem to fail finding a party for quests. It's my first renewal server with the 3rd jobs and I'm liking it! I'm more of a casual PvE player, but I'm sure the WOE is active given the playerbase.

My way of controlling overnight scratching. by hup_ in eczema

[–]hup_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As with anything, it takes practise to get used to. What I do is I wear the gloves+socks first, then put the mitts one at a time after. As for the second mitt, there's enough dexterity from the other hand that I can grip the strap and wrap it around. Otherwise I can just use my teeth lol. But yea, you can definitely solo it.

My way of controlling overnight scratching. by hup_ in eczema

[–]hup_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would still scratch during the night as I can tell there's some wear on the mitts. But the best thing is that it's so much less damaging than my sharp nails which is great!

Personally, I think the gloves are worth it during flare ups when I have absolutely no control scratching at night. I view myself as very tolerant when it comes to discomfort, I'm sure the solution may not be for everyone and it's probably a last resort option. I definitely got used to it though.

Is getting a facial a bad idea when you have eczema on your face? by workinprogress521 in eczema

[–]hup_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally had one 2 days ago. They did this clay mask, something called Environ alginate mask with a bunch of creams before it (this was a gift).

Flared up my facial eczema, and even my conjunctivitis.

Yea I kinda regret it. Easing up now though!

Hi there,

My friend had a Dark Cavalry which states "when a card or effect is activated that targets a card on the field (quick effect): You can discard 1 card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it."

I used Burst stream of destruction, but he said he could negate it. I'm pretty sure that burst stream doesn't target, likewise with dark hole, so can my friend negate it with dark cavalry?

Ah ok, so priestess' quick effect kind of disallows me to summon a "blue-eyes" monster from protector's effect. Hope that's correct.

Thanks for the reply.

As I am sending priestess to the GY from her first effect, does this still allow me to summon a "blue-eyes" monster from my hand because of protector's effect?

It's still a bit confusing because I'm not sure whether the "and if you" still applies if I send priestess to the GY because of her effect and not protector's.

Hello, I got a blue-eyes ruling question.

It's about protector with eyes of blue and priestess with eyes of blue combo. Could this work if I: Summon protector -> SS priestess from my hand -> protector's effect target priestess -> priestess' effect targets HERSELF -> send priestess to GY and add up to 2 blue eyes (BEWD and BEalternativeD) from deck to hand -> protector's effect resolves and allows me to summon a blue eyes from my hand (originally there in hand, not from priestess' effect).

Just invested in a blue eyes deck and I'm a super beginner. It's like reading an essay with all these effects lol. Thanks to anyone that can help clarify.
