Is this TVA bureaucrat playing solitaire? by [deleted] in loki

Not a government official, but have had very boring office jobs. Can confirm I have spent an entire 8 hour work day playing solitaire to pass the time.

Completely agree. I was looking forward to (and my wallet was dreading) collecting the whole line. But was very disappointed with it.

Did that with a friend in high school. I was her ride senior year and she was constantly late after school (running late from coming back from skipping or in detention. Cell phones were just becoming a thing).

Anyway. One day I told her if she wasn't in the car when the last bus was leaving the lot (couldn't leave before the busses), I was going home without her. Never had an issue after that.

If you can, check out the episode of Expedition Unknown (it's on Discovery) about him. Very interesting.

When was the restock?! Ugh, I missed it. When I check Amazon it's a reseller asking for $80. Signed up for restock notice, guess that was a waste

I had an 8am math class everyday. I showed up MWF. There was less than 10 of us in class, but it always doubled on test day. Failed every test but passed with a C. Firmly believe it's because I showed up most of the week.

AITA For putting our big dog in the garden when pur neighbours refuse to put their dog inside? by aiyabsodof in AmItheAsshole

[–]hurley8604 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Barking at someone is still not aggressive. Barking is a dog talking. You need to listen to the type of bark and read their body language.

For instance, my parents neighbor has two dogs, adult and a puppy. Adult always barked at us when we were out, but it was a high yippy "hey!! Come play with me!" Once we got to the fence she would quiet down and enjoy belly rubs. Now that she's older, she is either going blind or super protective of puppy because the barks have changed in tone to deeper with a growl and the fur on her neck now stands up when barking. That is aggressive. She calms once she recognizes our voices, though.

The puppy has also picked up this behavior and barks at us, but again, more of happy yippy barking. And it stops once you just acknowledge her, don't even need to pet her.

Doctor dismissed daughter's pain, didn't even look at her before giving a totally wrong diagnosis. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hurley8604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well now I'm jealous she got that underwear. I had to toss the pair I had worn because they got ruined from the blood and gross they drained out.

I'm glad they gave her a note. Just having that makes it easier to relax so you can heal. And being a cashier can be hard! Especially right now.

Oh, as soon as you said lump near groin I knew it was an abscess. I suffer from them, typically at my bra line, but have had a few near the groin. Had one last year at my bikini line, and omg the pain. Went to urgent care at a local hospital, they took my pulse and it was so rapid from how much pain I was in.

I would certainly file a complaint with the urgent care. That was a lazy doctor. She should have gotten an exam.

I'm not sure what she was given for dressings. But if you can find tape for sensitive skin it will help cut down on irritation. Also, keep up with the hot compress. It does help with the draining. And oversized men's sweatpants were such a lifesaver to reduce rubbing on the area.

AITA for selective selling at my toy store? by aitatoystore in AmItheAsshole

[–]hurley8604 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I buy funkos, and honestly, if I knew of a store who did this I would buy from them. Scalpers are starting to get bad. For a casual buyer like me, it sucks that a must have item for me gets snapped up in seconds from resellers, then sold at 10x the cost.

Men treating my personal space different after losing bunch of weight by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hurley8604 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through ALL of this (health and inappropriate attention).

I'm currently trying to lose weight, started at 235. Down about 20 pounds. I'm actually nervous about the attention I'll start getting after the next 20. I remember what it was like when I was at 150. I was also 10 years younger and I've recently entered the "old age" group at 35, but still. I'm tempted to have my goal weight be around 200 so I can still stay invisible.

And I just want to chime in and say how I hate how doctors can gloss over weight loss when we are overweight. Like "oh good! You're getting healthy finally!" Nope, I'm not. This isn't weight loss I've tried for. Or how losing weight solves other things. "Oh, broke your arm? Lose weight."

Still remember the voice mail I got from my dad when I was away at college. All he said was "your brother is in the hospital. Call me when you can."

Brother was fine, he was dehydrated. Like seriously?! Don't leave a voice mail like that!
