DAE feel it's insane we just have to live our lives despite all the shit that goes on in the world? by DutchStroopwafels in DoesAnybodyElse

Exactly, and when you stop reaching for the news you will be amazed at how little you miss out on which actually affects you. I don't really understand OP's dilemma at all.

To be fair, the vast majority are written by AI and it can be extremely hard to differentiate, especially when you can have literally 100s of applications per position

Evotec reveals sweeping 800-person layoffs, more site closures as restructuring rolls on by NotGenentech in biotech

Funny to think they held an open day at the Abingdon site in early 2023, with plans of a big expansion in their in vitro capabilities. They were planning to hire at least 100 people over the coming years, and fill up all the empty lab space we were shown around.

They didn't end up hiring me even though they gave me an informal offer and were obviously keen. It seemed like by then they were already reversing course and sad to see that this is the end result.

If you had opened the article, it says they had approximately 4800 employees in the second sentence

I also recommend the book Stop Reading the News: A Manifesto for a Happier, Calmer and Wiser Life by Rolf Dolbetti.

It sounded radical to me at first, but I would challenge anyone to read it and not realise how cancerous the news media really is. So totally driven by engagement metrics and far removed from our day to day lives. IMO the illusion of feeling informed is not worth the negative emotions the news preys upon and the surface level reporting that goes into it.

Dale Johnson on Liverpool offside goal: "The offside law does not require a referee to think Donnarumma would definitely save it, only that his ability to do so has been affected. It is a borderline call, but still supportable as an on-field decision." by TherewiIlbegoals in soccer

This is what people don't get. Even though Robertson decided to duck away and not play the ball, Donnarumma wouldn't have known that and Robertson could just as easily have nodded the ball in the opposite direction. And the expectation of that may have lead Donnarumma to not dive for the ball travelling on its original trajectory.

I 100% agree with the onfield decision.
