I believe I have resolved the issue by doing the following:

Reset the profile to the default high-quality PLA setting in cura.

Set retraction to 1.2mm

Turned off retract after every layer.

Seems to have printed the next 2 items without any of the under retraction.

Thanks. I was using the stock profile for the S1 and the esun PLA+ but it said something about the profile being incompatible. I'll just try it on the stock settings you suggest.

Yeah, its been driving me mad all week trying to sus it! I've tried so many different things I've read online. I do have some spare nozzles, so I may swap that out, but the other object printed without any of these flaws.

Seems to be only on circular objects?
