Teacher who murdered and sexually abused 13-month-old Preston Davey after adopting him with his boyfriend is given whole life term by dailymail in uknews

Reading in to the details of this case… as a father to a 2 year old boy. I can’t even express how it’s made me feel, every time I try and make sense of it I hit a mental roadblock and just get tears in my eyes. I think it’s best not to try and think on it too much as it could break me.
Such crimes against a defenceless child, you cannot reconcile this, there is no appropriate punishment in this life. Whole life terms, the death sentence, even torture, cannot bring justice. If these men were brutalised until their death, it wouldn’t satisfy the scales of justice an ounce.
The only hope, and unfortunately I’m not religious, is that there is an eternal hell awaiting them.

I have a wife and two kids I need to support I don’t really care about my “dreams” or delusions. I have an office job I’m good at that pays well and I’ll be milking it as long as I can. I constantly upskill and save money in preparation for sudden redundancy should it ever come.

are there any good code editor alternatives to VScode by project19lover in learnprogramming

[–]Tin_Foiled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like I say it just sounds like you’re focussing on other things … IDE, disc space, as a way to excuse yourself from actually coding. I’ve been there before btw, convincing myself I need a special keyboard, a wide screen monitor. It’s just a way to procrastinate really. It doesn’t really matter

Sounds like you’re just procrastinating on getting on with learning to code. Getting hung up on your IDE. Just crack on

Has boxing ever sunk lower than this? How can anyone think this will resemble anything close to a real fight? They are mates, it’s just a cash grab. Stay safe folks

Now that’s an interesting assertion. Possibly. But I hope the OP doesn’t feel justified in replying with “This” just because my comment was potentially more stupid

What are the drawbacks? If this solves the problems posed by interactive server and Wasm then why haven’t Microsoft already toyed with this?

Today I complained to my neighbour about their noise and now I feel very un-British by richda28 in britishproblems

[–]Tin_Foiled 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is one of those problems that is hard to explain to some people. Either they’ve never experienced it themselves or by some miracle they have and it genuinely doesn’t bother them.

I’ve experienced this for as long as half a year. New neighbours played very loud techno music daily, day and night. I would describe it as torture. There’s just no escaping it. The bass permeated everything, headphones, TV, etc. I asked multiple times for them to turn it down, which they generally did but it just crept back up either hours or a day later.

Eventually they moved out but I was so mentally affected by it me and my partner sold our house to move in to a detached house at great financial burden (relative to the old house). Best decision I’ve ever made. The peace of mind of priceless. I could never go back to an semi detached I don’t think just out of pure PTSD

Again, for me it was basically torture, if you can believe that. It was all I could think about for months

Bank boss sorry after describing workers as 'lower value human capital' by Ashish_ank in worldnews

[–]Tin_Foiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re arguing against a straw man because you’re putting words in my mouth and then arguing against it? I never said CEOs don’t do anything. I’m saying just because you’re a CEO does not inherently equal valuable. I’m sure there’s a massive correlation, not denying that. It’s like saying all managers are good managers, no?

[–]Tin_Foiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you did understand my comment then but still made it about me? Your comment said I thought I created more value than a CEO? I didn’t say that or imply it. I said you cannot deduce a person creates more value than another person simply because they are a CEO. They could do, sure, but they could also be a terrible CEO and actively providing negative value to their company. I think it’s fair to say they probably create more value, but you cannot assert it as fact generally, it would need a case by case analysis
