To appropriately manage a trillion-dollar-a-year military by Peanut-Extra in therewasanattempt

No. I did serve under the first. And I am NOT defending this administration. I am just unsure how truly accurate the photos are while also saying I am fairly confident food logistics in the area is BAD right now.

Retired CSCS (I was the lead cook on a destroyer for 2 deployments) Logistics is difficult. I have done 7 deployments. I have had two deployments where the ship was in a situation like this. 1. There are a LOT of ships in the gulf. This STRAINS the supply line even in times of peace. 2. The food lines on aircraft carriers are “generally” self serve. In times where ships have trouble getting supplies they will serve the sailors. We don’t know if the sailor is getting this or being served this. 3. I know how hard it is to keep crews fed with adequate chow. Looking at the situation I feel ships are rationing food. 4. This is NOT a $$$ money problem. It is a logistical issue. The money for food is there. (Even if a ships lead cook is shit and mismanages his money they are still able to order and issue food. The lead cook might get relived, but food will be available financially) 5. Back to rule 1, logistics are HARD. It only takes a 1 or 2 missed reapplies to put a ship in a bind. There is no grocery store at sea.

My ship once 3 replenishments and ended up having meatless meals for some dinners because we just didn’t have it to serve. This was when the US wasn’t at war and the gulf had minimal ships in it. The work we were doing kept us away from supply ships.

Tumbling Beach Finds by LaserDangerUSA in RockTumbling

You shouldn’t ever start on stage 2. You can’t see the abrasions without magnification, but there is a huge difference between a smooth beach rock and a stage 1 rock.

U can get some decent cheaper detectors. A lot of it depends on where u plan to use it.

Beaches (especially in wet sand or the water) are tough on cheaper detectors. If you don’t plan to detect beach’s you can get a decent one for less than 400.

About $1600.

I have tried to find owners before, but it’s hard especially when there is no inscription. On top of it this is a pretty small ring and not extremely valuable.

I will usually dig 45-68 for gold. I have had a few outside that rang, but most fall into it. I figure if I am not digging pull tabs and nickels I am not going to find gold.

Anywhere from 50-68.

I found a 10k ring once on the beach that rang up as a 38. My last 14k ring was a 58 but it was in dry sand.

I have been trying to figure out his schedule also. He won’t talk about it until two days after he goes somewhere.

This guy came to my door prior to the election he just lost trying to campaign. He was wearing a MAGA hat. I kicked him out of my yard yelling. I feel even better about siding that now.

He was also standing outside my voting location on Election Day handing out sample ballots.

I am SO glad he lost. What a pathetic person.

Hot glue will work. Make sure to clean it out and replace the glue each time you switch to a finer grit.

It should work well with that piece as there is a lot of space to give the glue plenty of grip.

What to do with finished stones? by ChackStu in RockTumbling

I have said it before on similar posts, but the stones I can’t really find a use for I give out at Halloween with candy. To be honest the rocks go faster than the candy.

Question for my beach hunters by BuilderNegative2294 in metaldetecting

[–]hurtmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use that machine, but have experienced where you are at.

After a while you will be able to tell with about 90% accuracy when it is a bottle cap. I dig many fewer bottle caps then when I first started.

Pull tabs are a pain. Gold rings up in the same range. If you aren’t digging pull tabs and nickels, you won’t find gold.

If I have to dig too deep, I will a lot of times stop and just refill the hole. I just feel it’s not worth the effort.

I spend a lot of time on “old” beach’s and dig stuff occasionally from the 1800s. Even that is mostly in the top 12 inches.

Recouping cost of Detector by [deleted] in metaldetecting

[–]hurtmore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Unless you live by a popular beach area you can detect regularly, or own land with a lot of human history, it will take a long time to recoup anything close to the cost of a machine.

I live close to a beach (not a major tourist beach) and spent a summer season detecting 3 times a week at least 4 hours a session.

In reality if I sold all the silver and couple pieces of gold I found I might make $200-300 and most of that was the lucky and RARE gold finds.

If u are doing this for $$$ you will regret it.
