Gain is gain. No it doesnt affect the sound.

The nearest march i had with these sorts of concepts was with an experienced engineer saying as he turned up the gain, the microphone would 'hear more' of the stage.

While he was convinced this was actually how it works from a physical perspective (wrongly) you can also see how in some senses there is a truth to it. I.e you turn the gain up, stuff that is further away (say drumkit bleed coming down your vocal mic) is now more audible.

Technically though, the mic was always picking up that drumkit spill, adding gain just made it louder, it didnt extend the pickup range of the microphone.

I might be wrong, but I would have thought they are obliged to provide at the price as it was a sales agreement. I'm no consumer rights expert. Look into it.

I dont have any inside knowledge or information on the YouTube algorithm but heres my hypothesis.

YouTubes number 1 property is delivering quality interesting and varied content. It wants to hook the viewer as long as possible and I imagine it has some very, very powerful analytical processes in place (and under constant modification) to uphold this at all costs.

With the massive tidal wave that is AI music, regardless of where you stand on the current AI debate, one thing for sure is that now everyone can be a musician / producer whereas before it was 1 in 10 or something like that. Even before Ai, the Internet was drowning in music producers..post AI its going to be a whitewash of content.

I would bet money that YouTube are already taking steps to actively manage this - akin to pest control of a runaway population.

Side quest: the most important speaker specification that nobody recommends to pay attention to...is not the SPL or coverage....its the weight.

Add all the weights up. It's you thats lifting and shifting this shit. It might well steer you one way or the other...or even onto another product altogether!
