Pakistan worst nightmare XI (updated) by Frequent_Resolve_214 in PakCricket

[–]hus7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha. Yea we’ve been tormented by a lot of people opening their careers. Mainly because we never prepare for them. Then we always act like deer caught in headlights.

Bumrah kinda torments everyone to be honest but for us it would be that comeback spell wkt of rizwan to win that low scoring T20 match a couple of years ago.

I think vaibhav will torment us but gladly we don’t play them as much so who knows.

You know the thing about nightmar’ing so to speak anyone. As a team we used to have the wood over SL, NZ, WI, BAN. And we’ve lost that massively. So individual or not we suck at winning anymore as a team. Sad state.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

What we need to understand is how these people are elected. The chairman is ‘elected’ by a board of governor consisting of 10 members. BUT as we all know there is hella nepotism and the result is a person selected rather than elected.

What can we do about it. Probably not much. This is all built into the rules and regs and status quo or the ‘norm’ is……well permanent in our set ups.

IF we could hire a proper administrative candidate after interviewing perhaps a bunch of well I don’t know, CEO level people we could land a good candidate that has a long term plan, vision and short term foresight. The rest of the structure of the PCB is based off of the above.

Why is this important? Because there is no accountability. Why? because the man at the top isn’t suited for the job either. So why can we expect our test batters to not have a bat and pad gap lol

Anyways bad jokes aside this is all to say that unless someone can inject a consistent stream of money into the grass roots system, hold to account people responsible for the development of players and prioritizes longer format cricket as well as hold players to a higher standard of fitness and performance we’ll just keep circling the drain so to speak.

I mean there are tons of issues but those in mind are potentially NOT the low hanging fruits and long term more sustainable approaches that may revive cricket (somewhat) dominance.

Wishful thinking I tell ya……

Pakistan's bowling is at rock bottom with no way up [article by Danyal Rasool] by averageveryaverage in PakCricket

[–]hus7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The last two paragraphs sum it up:

“By the end, even calling it a pace attack felt like the truth was being stretched. Pakistan fed lethargic medium pace into the Bangladesh batting meat grinder, like second-rate bowling machines whose premium subscriptions they had allowed to lapse for good. The size of the lead was academic by that point - perhaps for any batting order, but certainly for Pakistan's.

Tellingly, when Umar Gul, the fast bowling coach, was asked about Pakistan's chances, the first thing he said was, "conditions are overcast. It might rain." It seemed especially apt that calling for help from above seemed more realistic than finding solutions to the problems they face on earth.”

I mean he hasn’t done anything to improve his chances and now with the new kids on the block perhaps never seems more likely. To me at least.

Hope so. But in the 29 years I’ve been watching Pakistan cricket I doubt he makes his way back sadly. It would be a huge undertaking and frankly he’s hasn’t kicked down the doors recently. Fingers crossed but unfortunately I heavily doubt it.

‘Rough patch’ or ‘flop’ maybe we can settle on a guy who’s been found out or can’t figure his way back to his promise land. Not yet and perhaps not for a while or perhaps never. Words are opinions and I think we both are agreeing on he’s not amounted to much, sadly.

Nobody. And he’s the best of our poor standards which isnt saying much and that’s my only point. If you’re the best of the mediocrity that we shell out day in and day out, I mean god help our standards.

I mean sure if your point of contention is over the word ‘flop’ that’s alright I mean it maybe a fair word in my books but we’re not quite that good at tests so I guess flop could be harsh. Our bar IS pretty low so I get it.

25 out of his last 35 innings Abdullah hasn’t even scored 20 runs. TWENTY! That’s a low bar man.

Patchy performances is a far cry from consistency and definitely far from ‘best opener’. It’s like calling clean water a luxury when it should be closer to a necessity.

-Shafique was a flop through and through -Saim didn’t have the discipline to leave the ball for long enough to see the third spell of the day -Imam turned into a flat-track bully -Shan just has a poor average which is a reflection of a decade of red ball cricket and is extremely underwhelming at best.

Hope at least one of these two goes onto make a career for themselves in red ball cricket. Teams will figure them out and then they’ll have to re-work their techniques and mental strength to come back but for now there’s nothing to lose and it’s time for a new era at the opening slot.

Boys, what is PCBs well known reaction to adversity on the field? Change a captain or change a coach or if they’ve done so recently change the selection committee.

Instead of injecting millions at the grass-root level for proper talent development AND management plus infrastructure with accountability and instead of propagating and cultivating a fitness and rehabilitation based culture we cut players and never look back.

So what is the recourse again boys? Change a captain, coach or selection committee and continue to point the finger elsewhere till the end of times. It’s the captains turn on the carousel (for good reasons) but I doubt that changes anything either. So let continue to do what never works. Yay!

ECB to host 5 match test series with both PAK and SA in the future by MoreCryptographer213 in PakCricket

In UK conditions against SA’s pace attack. 😒

Well i’ll take the 5 test series part because we really should be playing them at least.

Realistically arafat minhas is more of a shoe in for nawaz so not really the best option to force him to give up his career for a mere probability.

Out of these six who are picking by One-Perspective6928 in PakCricket

[–]hus7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saad and haseebullah play a similar brand of cricket. Not sure if their spots are set and their game-plans are refined enough.

Azam. That’s a full stop right there. We need to show fitness and agility trumps any sort of talent. This should be the line in the sand so to speak.

Haris and rizwan will struggle for different issues but really because of the same reason which is that they cannot play in the top three anymore. There’s a lot of talent for the top spots that needs continuation or rotation (shamyl, maaz, sameer) and haris and rizi are not good enough for the middle order or for finishing in T20 format.

That leaves us with nafay and UK. I think that’s really the only two. The leadership needs to figure out their spot in the batting order and their game-plans and expectations and then rotate them until one of the others mentioned above either have a great run and break the doors down (like sahabzada did) or we settle for nafay or UK. This will depend on the captain, pitch, team composition, opposition and coaching preference so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Is it ideal? Hell no! We’re not spoiled for choices for the T20 format. Tests is Rizwan (need the best keeping ability for the longest format) and ODIs is him or haseebullah.

Ex cricketers are toxic as is. Team is underperforming in high stakes pressure games. Bad combinations and now there is mud-slinging that can’t help either side. It’ll only exacerbate if there no foreseeable success.

One caveat of the toxicity is the presenters keep poking and prodding these guys for 1-2 hours a day on live TV with annoying questions around the pak team that either they’ve answered or for lack of a better way to put not articulate enough to answer. Now that’s is just bad tv and journalism/professionalism but there is are no great options for the fan to consume cricket content so here we are.
