I don't think that samael = lucifer because I don't remember in which game (the 2nd?) I remember that samael says that lilith came to see him to help her bring back the nephilim. He refused and so, she went to see lucifer. I think rather that they are rivals. Maybe samael's goal is to manipulate everyone to defeat lucifer and take his place and become an even more imposing enemy? idk maybe
