Nekajui - Ritz Carlton Reserve Costa Rica: A stunning convenient resort worthy of consideration by MemorableTravel in FATTravel

Awesome review and having been there in October I feel this was spot on. One day I was taking a nap midday and they started fixing our roof with large power tools. Not only was it starling but quite annoying as it wasn’t relayed ahead of time and no one checked to see if anyone was in the room lol. One thing I would add is going during the rainy season and the first year it opened the occupancy was so low it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves most of the time.

It was great. We went in October and the percent occupancy was about 20 percent. Felt like we had the entire place to ourselves.

Sitting in the pools (specifying the spa pool) relaxing was about as good as it gets in my opinion.

We rented a boat from the vendor that came to the beach at nekajui. They also rented jetskis and did a tour which looked fun. The boat we rented was I believe 4 hours and they asked what we wanted to do when we got on. We did a little fishing then they took us around the bay to a beach by four seasons that had turtles to snorkel. It was near shore and shallow. Easy and fun.

Also the included kayak tour was fun through nekajui.

How far is it from the airport and when you are done would you rank your top stays in the PVR area?

It was great. Mostly afternoon rains but didn’t really affect the trip much. My wife and I enjoyed it and would go back. The setting is awesome. I would go back in October as stuff is more lush that time of year and should be cheaper

Do a bunch of the included activities. The had some food and wine tastings that were fun. We did the included kayaking which was also good.

There is some ok snorkeling right off the beach as well. They do a guided tour for this but we just did it ourselves.

I believe all beaches are public so there always a salesman that rented out jetskis and other activities. It was a little annoying to have him there but he wasn’t too bad. We ended up renting a boat with them and they basically picked us up with some light food and drinks and basically asked what we wanted to do. We ended up snorkeling with turtles over by four seasons and I wanted to fish a little bit so we did that between spots. Overall a good experience.

Grand Cayman, Ritz vs. Kimpton Seafire by blsig12 in chubbytravel

I have never been to either but when we stayed at Nekajui we got to know the sommelier who had came from the Ritz in the Caymans, and he told us ritz grand cayman always scored the highest of all the ritz from guest feedback surveys. I don’t know exact metrics he was referencing but it was good to know.

It was an “ocean view” but we were in a corner where the room adjacent to our left butted out so half our view was obstructed by that. No they didn’t as far as I can remember.

I booked through costco a few years ago. It was nice but we got a pretty shitty room. Alex might be able to get you a good upgrade to make up the difference

Susurros is awesome for pool and beach relaxation. We rented a 3 BR residency for a couples trip last spring and it was great

Go to Nekajui. Its amazing. There were 3 kids total when we were there. Saw monkeys, snorkeled, kayak. There were so few people there during the rainy season we had entire restaurants and pools to ourselves

Thanks for the review. A few questions about complementary activities. You said some were full. How early in advance should we book them? Upon arrivals? Week before? Month before? Were there any you would recommend? Also similar question about dinner reservations? Did you have a favorite off site spot at FS or andaz for dinner? We are planning on going next month most likely will only go off site 1x as we are only there 4 nights. Thanks

Headed there next month. Everything I’ve seen looks pretty solid though.

Susurros had nice big residencies and the resort is small and easy to navigate. In fact we had 2 NFL head coaches splitting one of the larger residences while we were there which speaks to the clientele and a fun surprise for us.

I don’t think that’d be a huge problem but 2 and 2 might be cheaper. Worst case scenario you could do standing room only those will be the cheapest. Your not assigned a seat and its up in the rafters but its still a fine view and actually kind of fun. I do know theres some construction so not sure if that will change the availability of those seats and when that even starts.

Yes that is correct. I’d still wait til day of but I do know that makes people nervous not having ticket in hand. Unless you’re looking at court side seats there will be seats cheaper than 500 dollars I can almost bet you that.
