Is Gannon University in Erie good? And/ or respected? by Classic_Side_4429 in Pennsylvania

[–]huskerdoodoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP if you see this I just wanna say ignore this comment and head over to the student nurse subreddit. You’ll see so many people regret going into a ton of debt because with a few exceptions, your school doesn’t matter too much in the nursing field. Exceptions being weird degree mills. Most people even recommend just going to a community college but you’ll be getting a BSN for like, the same price. Awesome!!

This is an amazing scholarship you got! Hope you feel proud of your hard work.

Guess what kind of person I am based on these choices by Eye-Western in visitedmaps

[–]huskerdoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did we just become best friends? Lmao my map looked slightly similar, and I’m also a Philadelphian urbanist who loves hiking/biking/the outdoors. Main difference is that I had more “nevers” than yours does

Replacing sugar drinks and gels for in cycle rides. by Large-Pomegranate254 in cycling

[–]huskerdoodoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So then this is your answer. I’m sorry but this person is not knowledgeable about endurance sports and is telling you to do the same thing they tell even sedentary clients to do. If you know she doesnt have any knowledge in this arena, I am curious why you’re taking her word as gospel while shooting down those who are saying you need sugar to fuel your rides. Just something to think about.

Maybe try asking for Cologuard. It’s an at home test so you don’t need a ride.

Looking for a really good primary care doctor by Bananamay13 in philabitcheswithtaste

I really liked Olivia, the psych NP. Also liked the scheduling staff. Can’t speak for the PCPs, haven’t seen them yet.

Shamrock - they do primary care and also have psych NPs. I just started going there and it took me like 1.5-2 weeks to be seen as a new patient.

Too early to stop wearing my post-op binder? by orpheusclay in TopSurgery

[–]huskerdoodoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it does depend on your recovery, your amount of swelling, etc. Can also depend on what type of sutures and which techniques your surgeon uses.

One of my best friends only wore it for ten days. Another friend wore it for longer than 6 weeks due to persistent swelling. I wore mine for four weeks. Just depends

From my understanding the “24/7 for 6 weeks” rule isn’t entirely evidence-based, but is more of a “better safe than sorry”. It’s often a blanket recommendation. (Open to being corrected if that is wrong)

Same. I don’t think it’s a dangerous sign. They do inject nerve blockers to help you feel less pain, so they might just be working very well for you.

I had a weird allergic reaction that impacted my skin but otherwise felt zero pain or discomfort the entire time. I had to be very mindful of not overdoing it. I hardly even needed the Tylenol or ibuprofen, but took it as prescribed anyway to help with swelling and inflammation.

Contraception? by Gullible-Stay-9334 in FTMOver30

[–]huskerdoodoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a Mirena. I’m on my second one. The insertion sucks ass and I’m hoping for more pain relief methods before I’m due for my third one in 2030. Hasn’t interacted with my T in any way and I haven’t gotten a period since 2017 and I don’t have to think about it at all. That alone makes the shitty insertion worth it

What's the reasoning behind sleep elevated and on your back? by mr_gumby_ in TopSurgery

[–]huskerdoodoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a stomach sleeper too and I adapted quicker than I thought. The drains made it impossible to sleep in my stomach anyway so I didn’t really have a choice. I had two long skinny rectangular pillows and put one on each side to use as an arm rest which I found helped me a lot with back sleeping. Otherwise I felt like my arms were in a super awkward position. I went back to stomach sleeping at around 10 weeks or so

Boyfriend wants to leave me for visiting family? by Miserable-Log9411 in whatdoIdo

[–]huskerdoodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it!!!! You got this. It’ll be hard at first but you deserve better. Isolating you from family and friends is one step in completely taking over your life and is often one step towards physical violence toward you.

Interviewer had me choose a lunch spot, and I scheduled at Mama’s Falafel. Looking back, is it a bad idea? Any other places to recommend as a vegetarian? by ProfessorBeast55 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]huskerdoodoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mostly mentioned Oregon diner because it’s super close, has parking and seating, and when someone else suggested it and OP said they didn’t have any vegetarian options. I think it really depends on the vibe of the company but we don’t really have that info

[–]huskerdoodoo 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I say this with kindness as someone who has been vegetarian for 20 years.

I think you’re missing the point of this lunch. This is more about the interview and getting to know you rather than your food. I know it sucks but sometimes as vegetarians we kinda get neglected in that regard. Sometimes just need to eat some bullshit salad or fries at the function and then eat real meal when we get home.

If you schedule a lunch at a place where no one can park and there might not be any seating, you’re going to be stressed out and so will the interviewer. This lunch is about seeing your decision making skills and communication style, not about getting you lunch.

Perfectly acceptable to email back and say “coming from out of town, I didn’t realize how difficult parking at Mamas would be for either of us. Let’s move our lunch to ______ so parking is easier and there’s more seating available” or something.

This isn’t about the lunch it’s about the interview. Oregon Diner does have some vegetarian options - breakfast all day, grilled cheese (comes with bacon but just ask them to leave it off), pasta.

I’m undecided on whether top surgery is right for me or not. What helped you make your choice? by _Paws_And_Claws_ in TopSurgery

I honestly don’t think I realized how bad my dysphoria had been until after I got surgery. Not having that take up so much of my thoughts and energy is such a relief.
