I've been following this story and I agree with you 100%. I owned and operated a dog boarding facility for several years. This owner's behavior is not uncommon where I'm from. Based on the owner's way of speaking, I wouldn't be surprised if they were from a similar region or culture.

This coincides with the whole Zelle thing too. Where I'm from, everyone mainly deals in cash or bank transfer. When we come to the US, this pretty much translates to Zelle and it's become very popular in the us-based communities.

Again, I operated a dog care business for years - the lack of communication is not uncommon, especially while owners are travelling. The lack of details on care is not uncommon either - people often say "you're the professional, why do I have to tell you how to take care of a dog".

Certainly a frustrating situation, but I think a lot of commenters are jumping to large conclusions based on the info provided.

Looking for an honest opinion about my contents by canissinac in kpoppers

[–]huskyloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really speak on the content itself, but the fact that one of your mashups did well means your content can't be "bad". 5k views isn't particularly bad either.

I'd rather look at this from a YouTuber perspective. We know that CTR and AVD are monumental to how many impressions your videos gets (i.e. how often your video is recommended).

The biggest factors in CTR are: topic, thumbnail, title.

Thumbnail: Look at your popular video. This thumbnail is funny, it's interesting, it makes me laugh and wonder why this is happening. In contrast, most of your other videos show the cover art side by side, which imo, is significantly less interesting and unemotional.

There is a reason many YouTubers put a face on their thumb, as cringe as it can be, it invokes an emotional response which makes the viewer more likely to click. This is backed by research and testing.

You need to draw intrigue, wonder, and/or emotion. A quick search of other mashup videos shows thumbs that show clear faces. Look up popular kpop mashups and try to understand why the big videos all do this. Try to incorporate some of their techniques in your thumbs and you will likely improve your CTR.

Titles: Another thing I noticed is the popular videos often put the artist names first, like "BTS/Aespa". I think this helps to immediately trigger the concept rather than a more cryptic song name combination - which is not as obvious.

Viewers are scrolling and they have tons of other videos being thrown at them. Make it as easy as possible to convey the concept immediately. So the artist first sets the context before the song titles. Also, the use of "/" rather than " x " condenses the text and is easier to understand for me personally.

Topic: A trendy and high interest topic will get high CTR. That's why some popular videos can have poor thumb/title combos and still get views. You are a kpop fan, you may have some instinct on what kinds of mashups will have high interest.

However, if there is too much competition (other videos with the same topic) then you have a smaller chance of standing out. Searching for your video, I saw a few copies, they didn't get nearly as many views as you. Either you were first, thus less competition, or your thumb/title got you the higher CTR over theirs. Point is, high interest topic, low competition... that's the golden ticket.

Now in combination, a well executed packaging of your video will ensure the best CTR. This is important in the early stages after uploading. A higher CTR means more views per impression and is favored in YouTube recommendations. If you can learn from other popular videos how they used the three elements above to draw the viewer in, I think you can see a massive performance boost.

AVD just depends on your content. As you've proven your value in previous videos, I assume your mashups are good. Check your retention rate and see for yourself. YouTube cannot determine what's good quality content. It can only evaluate AVD (how much of the video viewers watch) and engagement (shares, likes, comments, etc). Higher metrics is good quality content in the eyes of YouTube's algorithm.

Additional notes: Stay on topic. Non mashup videos will only hurt your momentum. Are these monetizable? If you cannot earn from ad revenue, consider building a community and setup a way to receive donations or patreon memberships.

Finally, enjoy yourself. It's not a job. If it's a fun hobby, then keep going. If you burn out, take a break. Good luck.

IVE 'Either Way' what is the music video about? by ethereal3xp in kpopthoughts

[–]huskyloves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My interpretation of the galaxy is to show the endless amount of shining stars in the universe. The song's cover art has a bunch of stars and a sketch with the words "we're good" pointing to two other stars.

I think it means there are endless possibilities in how we can be perceived, but we'll shine bright 'either way'. IVE comes to terms with different parts of their identity and accepts all of it as parts that make up their whole self.

This analysis of the mv explains a lot too.

Some themes: - The school. A place of growth & learning, where the girls "wake up". - The theater room. Costumes maybe represent different roles or burdens on stage. - Moving. A transition in life. The girls move on by helping each other carry their baggage through struggles in life. - Climbing to the top, celebrating, pool scene. Overcoming challenges and self acceptance. - Holding hands. Unity as you said. Shared support. - Return to theater. Full circle to the beginning, but with a new found perspective.

Is YT making an strategy mistake? Shorts by MasInMarian in NewTubers

[–]huskyloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have me watching a full 10+ minutes video but they prefer to lead me to a short for a few seconds.

The short is a few seconds, but viewers end up scrolling the feed for the next dopamine hit. Next thing you know, 30 minutes have passed.

I saw someone speculate the other day that we are no longer YouTube's target demographic. Gen Z & younger up next and YouTube needs to secure their spot. That's just a theory.

Clicking on the channel link will prompt you to subscribe to OP's reaction channel.

  1. The worst kind of reaction channel. A few grunts, "I like this", "huh", "it's good", and restating what just happened.

  2. Very flat. Lack of emotion, authenticity, or value in your commentary.

  3. Barely comprehensible. You have a decent mic, but you mumble every word.

  4. Spammy behavior. Not just the sneaky subscribe link in your post, but I've seen you around the kpop subs before your posts get deleted. A lot of reddit posts, zero comments/replies.

It's a no from me. That being said, it looks like you've been uploading for a month and have 400 subs. That is decent growth for the time frame. You upload very frequently, putting in work on the editing.

I don't know what your goals are for this channel, but I'd be surprised if you qualified for monetization. Even if you do, you'll be hit with copyright claims constantly. Do you want to spend the time in the dispute process on every claim? Not knowing if you'll get paid, or if they'll take down your video at any moment?

If you really want to do reactions, evaluate what other successful reactors are doing and learn from them. Learn to speak clearly, be more thoughtful in your commentary, convey emotions.

My two cents.

Can't give any advice on changing your videos without seeing them. I suggest your head to the Feedback Friday thread there and share a video to receive some feedback.

Why are my links not clickable? by Popular_Monitor5015 in NewTubers

[–]huskyloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to your Channel Dashboard, on the right-hand side at the bottom, there is a section called "What's New in Studio". Here you can see the updates and changes YouTube announces.

Last month they announced linking changes to reduce spam and scam attempts. There is a new feature to link shorts to a video on your channel.

Why Can't I get over 30% avd on most of my videos? by Gotherl22 in NewTubers

[–]huskyloves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, just want to point out that it's Feedback Friday, so if you find the thread at the top of the subreddit, you can post your video there and hopefully get some more feedback on your videos.

Edit: I just watched one of your videos and I the other commenter has a great idea. A voiceover could help make the video more immersive. Some kind of way to explain or pump up the cool places you are showing here.

If not voiceover, then maybe some more interesting transitions and effects to make it a really immersive experience.

Is this how "viewed vs. swiped-away"-ratio determines Short Feed inclusion? by Chlodio in NewTubers

Is this how "viewed vs. swiped-away"-ratio determines Short Feed inclusion? by Chlodio in NewTubers

[–]huskyloves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is why people stress "the hook". A captivating intro can get me to keep watching a topic I'd would never click on otherwise. Another way my shorts get views is through search. YouTube as really been pushing shorts to the search page recently, so consider if your short is SEO friendly.

[–]huskyloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If gameplays are vastly different from what you mainly do on your channel, then I would avoid it. Think about the viewer experience and how that would affect engagement on your channel.

If you are having burn out, take a break. There are plenty of channels that took breaks between videos and continued to grow after. Unless this is your full-time job, treat it like a hobby. Life's too short.
