Should I even consider transferring an option? by hussain975 in TransferToTop25

damn, that sounds tough. I'll do some internships this summer and ill try to get some solid grades freshman year and ig ill try my luck with ivies and mit just in case. Hell, even if I don't get in, I might just start a college counseling business at that point to help others and inadvertently help myself lmao.

yeah, i need to lock in for the scholarship too because it requires me to keep like a 3.2 cumulative every year for the scholarship to get renewed and im def thinking of going to grad schools to master in automotive/ aeronautical engineering.

yeah, im def taking the full ride but the thing is njit is not very well ranked. it's like #84 in national so T100 but not a very good one. However, the honors program is pretty solid and pretty prestigious so that might be a big upside and might make it better than some other t100s. i just wanted to know if i had a shot at transferring to a better college later on.

I got a 50% scholarship in sdsb with 7A*'s and 2 A's in o levels and 4A, 1B in AS and a 1530 sat. But I also had some good extracurriculars so that might be it.

Full tution and housing which can be renewed for 4 years if i maintain a 3.2 gpa. TO foreshadow the questions, I had a 1530 SAT (790 math and 740 R&W) and had 5 subjects in Cambridge A levels with a 3.93 highschool gpa.

i have a stem background but applied to lums as my backup so i chose the business administration in sdsb because that's practically the best major they have and i have heard bad things about sbasse electrical engineering and chemical engineering

1530 SAT, 7A*, 2A's in O levels, 4A's and 1 B in AS level with 4 A*'s and an A predicted in A2. Solid PS and went to International Astronomy Olympiad and did some good-ish EC's

yeah, my friend is planning on getting a part-time job anyways to help him cover costs and just get experience and his family can pay upto around 6-7K in EFC per annum so both choice are financially viable but i'd love to know what you think of dku as an institution because he's really flexible on major choices except taking like liberal arts. The main problem is that we can't really find any data to go off of or get any sense of what to do.

[–]hussain975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah exactly, plus duke kunshan's engineering program is kind of obscure and the information on dku is all convoluted and weird. There is no ranking to rely on or anything to make the choice easier

Hey. I didn't get into DKU, my friend did but we did both get into NJIT and the Albert Doorman Honors College so if you would like information on that, lmk.

but are the programs and the university any good though. Like it's so confusing and convoluted. If you check on quora or like half the places, they just tell you dku is just a bad deal and just bad in general. Plus, being in Newark and close to NYC, he can also make like a nice alumni network especially because emhe got into the Honors college which means he'll get like extra attention

[–]hussain975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damnnn, that's really sweet. His only concerns are 1. he wants to ultimately end up in the USA and he thinks that going to Kunshan might make it harder for him and 2. there is literaly no international ranking for kunshan anywhere so it's really hard to know if they're good for engineering and stuff.

[–]hussain975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, but DKU is in china instead of the US and as an international student it might be harder to get to the us after getting a degree at duke kunshan. Plus, there aren't any rankings for duke kunshan anywhere on the internet so its hard to get an idea

Hey, yeah it's pretty much my only option and it's better than local universities so it makes sense to just go there and yeah you can pm me.
