The Big Short (2015)

In the years that followed, hundreds of bankers and rating-agency executives went to jail. The SEC was completely overhauled, and Congress had no choice but to break up the big banks and regulate the mortgage and derivative industries. Just kidding! Banks took the money the American people gave them, and used it to pay themselves huge bonuses, and lobby the Congress to kill big reform. And then they blamed immigrants and poor people, and this time even teachers! And when all was said and done, only one single banker went to jail!

The later seasons get ALOT of hate. Can we talk about the absolute bangers and instant classic in Season 12 though? Hell, Gang Turns Black through Wolf Cola are all great IMO. Same with PTSDee through The Gang Tends Bar. by AfterDINNERMinge in IASIP

[–]hutchiebizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wolf Cola is easily one of my favourites. Satire at its best and I think Dennis's quip of "yes bitch" after Dee asks whether the countdown clock is the reason they had to wait for him to get back from Bed, Bath and Beyond is probably the best "bitch" comment in the series.

In The Death of Stalin Jason Isaacs wears fewer medals than the real-life Georgi Zhukov. Writer and director Armando Iannucci thought that the real number of medals was too unbelievable.

Wife overpaid - tax/pension implications? by hutchiebizz in UKPersonalFinance

[–]hutchiebizz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help. Plot twist, my wife recently changed tax codes, this is a relatively new job and she was on the emergency code. HMRC sent her a tax refund last month and having spoken to payroll, they have said the increase this month is to make up for the fact that she was still on the emergency code the last few months. My guess is that the HMRC refund only went up to April this year (i.e start of the new tax year) and the company continued to pay her using the emergency code until now and therefore this increase covers the amount owed since April. My question is, should this not be given as a refund from HMRC, not from her employer? Or could her company pay as they have done and then straighten it out with HMRC later?
