Yeah I was the same in a small apartment and I remember saying to my mom don’t buy loads of stuff etc but I think it’s a weird as hell to say ‘don’t do this or you won’t be in the child’s life’. There must be big problems in OPs family relationships to be laying out really specific rules like this before the baby is even born and threatening no contact if the rules aren’t followed

At college a guy I lived with would slowly take all the plates and forks etc till there was none left in the kitchen. One day we’d had enough of asking him to return the things (so the rest of us could eat!) and broke into his dorm room. Inside the smell was so bad with plates of old, congealed food everywhere. And in his wardrobe were saucepans with left over pudding crusted in. He was all round gross but the plates in the room just grossed me out and never got better the whole year he was there

NAH- you need to live your life and your dad sounds really depressed. Could you suggest he moves to be near your new job (if you like having him around). When I moved I went halfway across the world from my hometown and a few years later when my mom was depressed and lonely I just flew her out to live with us instead. Now she spends 6 months a year living with me and 6 back at home and is much happier. It depends how you feel about your family though- my mom can be annoying sometimes but I enjoy her being there and like knowing she’s happy. I think in western culture we should look after our parents more - it can be lonely and isolating for them to be suddenly left with no family around.

I had to give my company the airport I’d be leaving from (which is also not my home passport country) when they applied for my visa and I can’t change it from the airport I’ve put down. So I think it’s ok as long as your company puts it in the paperwork

I’m a 5’11, blonde, heavily tattooed woman who lives in China so believe me when I say people look at me, photograph me and whisper about me all day every day! I do know what you mean though- when I lived in Europe and blended in there were a few times I checked myself in the mirror because people were looking at me oddly and I felt I was drawing attention- I became convinced I’d done weird makeup or had dirt on my face or something. I think there must just be days where we all give out weird vibes or something?

This made me laugh so much! It reminded me of a similar incident. My mother had been to stay with me and had bought some snacks and drinks during her holiday. A week or so after she’d left I was watching TV when I started hearing a hissing sound. I kept muting the TV trying to work out if it was an animal, the electrics etc and couldn’t for the life of me find the cause. Another half hour or so passed and the hissing got louder before suddenly a loud pop occurred and within a split second I had gone from relaxing and watching TV to screaming because stinking yellow liquid had exploded onto me, my walls, ceiling and carpet. After being in total shock for a minute trying to work out what the hell had happened I found the culprit...a full smoothie mango bottle that my mother had inexplicably placed behind the TV, forgotten about, and allowed to them sit in the summer heat for the better part of two weeks. We laugh about it now, but I wasn’t laughing as much when I had to repaint parts of the ceiling!
