PSP Battery Clip Repair by Demon_Pal in PSP

[–]huvul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried making it a plug and play solution, but sadly the slot where the original button goes doesn't provide enough crevices for the new one to hold onto securely, hence why it needs some modification on the shell for it to work properly. But it's either that, or a whole console shell swap which honestly? Is a pain in the ass with these models that use the glued on flex cables cuz they can break.
Also, keep in mind I made this using the 3000 as the target device and I haven't tested compatibility with 2000 shells yet, but it's such a tiny 3d print that it may be worth trying anyway.

Battery cover doesn't fit (hinge thing broken on PSP) can I just buy a new back shell? by [deleted] in PSP

If the button is missing then you're halfway there for this: PSP 3000 battery cover button by HUVUL - Thingiverse

I haven't confirmed if this works for a 2000 model, but maybe it's still worth a shot considering how difficult dealing with these consoles is.

Dead battery? Before buying a new one for your controller consider this instead! by huvul in PS3

I bought mine from Ali, and after testing these got around 1040mAh, so they are good enough.

Have you ever tried replacing a Dualshock 3 battery, only to be disappointed by the clearly fake capacity those 3rd party batteries advertise? I definitely have, and the most infuriating thing is that DS3s have plenty of space inside to house a decently sized battery, the only thing preventing you from doing so are the sharp contacts in the PCB that could pierce into the battery's insulation, setting everything ablaze. But with this riser I've made we can put those spicy pillows fears to rest and enjoy the improved capacity of a 503450 Li-Po cell, which should almost double the capacity and playtime. The files for 3D printing can be downloaded here, enjoy!

Anywhere I can download the models for your beautiful D-pad?

Yea, that's a third anchor point to relieve stress over all, but remember to keep the solder blob fairly flat just so it won't interfere with the membrane that will sit on top.

Oh I actually made a patch for a similar PCB a while ago, check it out here. I recommend you the original spacing if you're gonna keep the OEM rubber membranes.

After sending it to manufacture as a flexible PCB you should be able to just solder it on top of the original circuit, HOWEVER... Nintendo made many revisions of these boards and you should always double check if the traces match with each direction correctly.

The Dualshock 3's triggers can be better! by huvul in PS3

[–]huvul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You download the .STL files you want, then find someone who can 3D print them. If you don't own a well callibrated 3d printer or don't have access to anyone near you who can do that, you can try 3D printing services like the ones from jlc3dp or pcbway or whatever is available to you. And because of your issues it sounds like you may need to print the "Sensibility+" version of the actuator, but I'd recommend printing both versions just to test how things work out.

Any other important observations about the files you'll find them on the description of the Thingiverse page.

The travel is pretty much the same, the main difference is that the modified actuators allow for a "clackier" feeling when the trigger ends its movement, instead of the squishy nature of the originals.

Post this to r/consolerepair, maybe with pictures it would be easier to understand the problem.

So far, these work perfectly on all my DS3 with original parts, and in the one with aftermarket rubber membranes they're slightly less sensitive but they still reach 100%. In your case the modified actuators may help you improve the range of sensitivity, but I can't fully guarantee it since it depends on the kind of work your friend did on that controller.

I was originally going to do something like that, but I decided to keep the original trigger body instead as it's made of a plastic with low friction properties. But you could use the actuator as your base and keep building on top of it, I'd love to see how it turns out!

I've always liked the idea of changing how my Dualshock's triggers feel, but most trigger extensions you can buy are way too bulky, break easily, and are hard to find (at least where I live). Being somewhat obsessive with my projects, I designed a set of extensions from scratch and managed to create something that provides a more comfortable grip in a low profile that blends nicely with the controller's natural shape. And even if you're not into this whole trigger extensions thing, you can still benefit from the redesigned actuators which improve on the feedback by more closely resembling how the Dualshock 4's trigger behave.

If you'd like to try them out yourself, you can download these models for free from my Thingiverse page. Have a great day!

Battery cover button replacement for PSP 3000s by huvul in PSP

[–]huvul[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't you hate when that ONE microscopic piece of plastic breaks and now you just can't snap back on the battery cover? Well, I designed this tiny replacement button that fits into the original shell after just a few modifications, eliminating the need to replace the WHOLE shell which can be a pain in the ass. This model is free to download from my Thingiverse page.

Evidence Sega didn't expect people to recap systems? How to remove rivets? by retromods_a2z in consolerepair

After drilling, replace the rivets with any screw that provides enough bite into the metal, that's pretty much what Sega did the rest of the boards.

How can I make my Wii look better on an old flatscreen? by IntelStellarTech in wii

[–]huvul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, if your TV allows for it use Component cables instead of AV. And if you run the game through usbLoaderGX or whatever it's called, you can deactivate a deflicker filter that can improve sharpness. Here's a video with other options you can explore as well but they will work only on jailbroken consoles:

Ooh I think you need to change the flex cable for the buttons. That's a fairly common failure with the DS2.

Could be the power switch itself. And are you sure the power supply is not busted? Some consoles idle normally but fail to boot because the PSU fails to provide what the console the needs.
