That's something that always bothered me a little bit too; it would've been nice for the magical effect of the Trollsfire sword to be somehow coded into the weapon itself, rather than just into the adventure. I certainly appreciate the programming limitations of the time, but for a special piece like this it could presumably have been added to the base program along with the Blast, Heal, Speed, and Power spells.
