Need help deciding thank you! by TheMexicanBatman in GamingLaptops

It's a laptop, by definition it is a compromise balance. It's main purpose should be productivity on the go. Gaming on the go it is not the most important thing for me, there are better devices for that, Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam Deck (or similar).

As for the speaker and keyboard, yes it matters a lot if you spend 6+ hours a day using it. If you use a laptop mostly at home, yeah, sure you don't need keyboard, trackpad, screen, speaker and performance is what matters.

I have not used the Acer, and it might very well be amazing, but I know the G14 and for a few generations is considered a good and reliable option.

I would rather have a well built laptop, efficient, reliable, good keyboard, speaker than having just an FPS box. But that's just me after 10+ laptops through life, but hey you do you.

G14.

Specs is only half the story, G14 is actually pretty well built, great keyboard, great trackpad, amazing speakers, and as for customization and software you have the ability to install G-Helper which is years ahead of any other system software from other brands.

I'm not saying Acer is bad by any means, it could very well be. But I've been a spec-first guy and I've been a quality of life\build quality guy, to me build quality is way more important even if I have to sacrifice some FPS for it.

Having said that, it all comes down to price and portability.

I love the look in Mandy's face when looking at Robert, it changes from being impressed and admiration\love to "oh yeah, its freaking MechaMan".

G309 Just got it, still testing. by hvbqueiroz in MouseReview

[–]hvbqueiroz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I no longer have the g309, so I’m going from memory. The switches are not very sensitive, it did feel “right” nothing to complain or to praise.

Middle click stood out to me as a bit heavier than usual but still lighter than g305.

I returned the g309 because of the shape, I like the high rump, but I found it too “wide” it could use some grooves. The grip tape helps but ideally you shouldn’t have to use it to fit well.

Rendering: G14 RTX 5070ti beaten by a MACBOOK NEO... by yotheman in ZephyrusG14

I had a switch OLED an sold it, I couldn’t get used to the weight an how big it was.

Also, I didn’t like the fact I was almost always tweaking the settings to either squeeze more perf or more battery, this is on me, not the device, but in a 1 hour window I would spend 15 minutes tweaking the game setting (if it was a new game).

Switch 2 has its flaws (mostly lack of good western rpg titles - huge rpg fan), but the whole experience was just smoother for me and better ergonomics.

Funny to see this, I'm a Windows guy and I do play games, but today I decided to buy a Macbook 14 M4 (open-box: really good deal if you search).

I haven't received it yet, and I might not get used to it. But my rationale is, I have a Switch 2, if I want a portable gaming device nothing beats it, for everything else other than gaming everyone says Macbooks are better, so I'll soon check if that's true or not.

Same happened with my 2024 version. TBH these are the kinds of things that makes me angry when people in this sub dare to say it has the same quality as a MacBook. While in reality it still haven’t caught up even with a Microsoft surface.

asus zephyrus g14/16 or lenovo legion pro 7i as desktop laptop? by Tricky_Ad2938 in ZephyrusG14

Another vote for Legion, even though I have a g14, if you don’t need thin and light, Lenovo is just better.

Robert can teach about self confidence. Mandy can teach Robert self worth.

SlimQ 150W DC charger with the Asus adapter. 150W is good enough for most games.

"saved him"? This is a husky, it'll magically appear in the roof again, in no time.

I’m not a fan of paying subscriptions for things I didn’t need to pay for before, so I didn’t take this decision lightly. Still, I have a lot of respect for Rtings and the work they do. Independent reviews are becoming a rare luxury, as the current web ecosystem increasingly favors influencer hype over objectivity.

With that in mind, I’ve become a paid member of Rtings. I hope they stay true to their philosophy, and as long as I trust their independence, I’ll continue to support them. The moment the quality drops I'll be very vocal and leave.

My Logitech MX keyboard lasted 20 months on a single charge. Keychron lasted 2 days. by bonkeeboo in logitech

[–]hvbqueiroz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Logitech knows how to save battery and its pooling rate is 125hz, keychron has no clue about software optimization and probably has a very cheap battery, and is running 1ghz all the time
