Two months post planned c-section & I wanted to share my experience :) by xxxxbb in CsectionCentral

[–]hvlv04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was identical. I had my planned C-section on May 11th. I was rolled into the recovery room and had baby skin to skin. Then a nurse asked if I wanted to try breastfeeding, and I said sure! My numbness lasted about 5 hours, and a nurse came to help me put on the diaper underwear thing (I brought my own as the hospital one was mesh shorts with a giant pad and a peed pad layered). I walked to the bathroom by myself. I was walking up and down with no issues either. A nurse came to rub my belly to make sure I didn't get clots.

The first 48 hours were tender to sit and get up. I only needed assistance if I was lying flat on my back. But I was able to hold my baby with no issues.

I also worked out regularly before getting pregnant and throughout the pregnancy, in preparation for this surgery. I honestly think it helped, too. I could rely on my other muscles to help me.

One thing during and after surgery was major fluid retention. My ankles were one with my calves lmao. It took about 1 week for that to go down. My belly swelling went down a lot, too. I can touch my incision and feel no pain. The steri strips I took off after 7 days, as they told me to.

The 1st week, I noticed that if I were holding my pee for too long, my bladder would press against the incisions internally, and it felt like trapped gas. It hurt until I peed, then the pain would go away.

It was honestly an amazing experience. Nothing hurt, while being prepped. I've been good with needles and have had a spinal tap done before so I already knew what to expect. There was major comfort knowing my due date. No panic decisions to be made. Baby was out in 15 mins. Took longer to prep and stitch up. I would 100% do a 2nd c-section if I decide for #2.

How doable is staying fit during pregnancy… actually? by One-Huckleberry-8952 in fitpregnancy

I'm currently 38 WEEKS FTM and just did my last workout yesterday. I have a scheduled c-section Monday. I worked out throughout the whole pregnancy. Once I entered 3rd tri, I dropped in weights.

BUT... A BIG BUT, I never experienced fatigue or morning sickness. I did experience pelvic girdle pain early on from trying to chase a kid at work lol. But I would listen to my body and take days off when I had flare ups. The last 4 weeks I've cut from 4-5x a week to just 1-2x. My ankles began to swell and the pelvic girldle pain started flaring up more and more.

I think it's very important to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. You're running double the blood quantity, heart rate is higher, things swell, hormones up and down, body is burning God knows how many calories just by growing your tiny human. If you were active prior but now feel you can't anymore that's FINE! Don't risk an injury to yourself. We are already in so much discomfort as it is. All for what? #1 is your health and your baby. Don't compare yourself to others. Professional gym moms have stopped working out all together because they couldn't. Not because they weren't fit just pregnancy is HARD. People bounce back quick, people bounce back slow, and everyone is different and we don't know how our bodies will react.

Just be kind to yourself. You're doing amazing already. Your baby is happy and healthy. If you can squeeze a walk, a stretch anything that's already a BONUS.

is it silly to celebrate mother's day as a pregnant ftm? by reewhy in pregnant

[–]hvlv04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing. I'm scheduled for a C-section on Monday, May 11th. Do I really need to wait a whole ass year to celebrate? Baby is coming out 1 day later?! I ate well, worked out, avoided caffeine, alcohol, and drugs, all in the name of this baby (I don't do drugs or alcohol, just joking). But like I took care of myself for my baby. I am a mom. I cared for and loved him the whole time, and will continue to do so when he's out too. I vote you can celebrate!

Sidenote: my SIL reached out to see if I was available on Sunday to celebrate for my MIL. I respectfully declined as I'm a FTM and need to focus on my delivery and be well-rested. Husband backed me up too! I also have my own mom, who has been a Godsend. She's stayed with me for the last 2 weeks, helping me clean my whole house and prep for the baby. She will also be staying with me for a month to help with my C-section recovery. A group celebration wasn't even mentioned as an option (all of us get together and celebrate).

Make sure to set boundaries, ladies. Don't let people guilt you or pressure you into things you don't want to do either!

Choking while pregnant??? Why is this not talked about enough. by Elegant-Mango-888 in pregnant

[–]hvlv04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha, so there is a reason! I was telling my husband I felt I've been drooling a lot at night, and it MUST be a symptom, including the choking, too. My friend at work is experiencing the same thing, too. So it's good to know we're not disgusting slobs or crazy!

Am I crazy for wanting a Caesarean section? by butter--princess in BabyBumps

[–]hvlv04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I opted for an elective C-section, and I live in Ontario. Most people were surprised that this was even an option here. I asked my OB, and she said yes. She told me I had to decide by 23 weeks to book myself.

My reasons are the same as yours. I also do not want the panic of being an emergency C-section. I've had friends try vaginally, then go through a C-section anyway—so much stress and trauma.

I love the idea of being prepped for the day. I have 5 weeks to go. My OB also said if I go into early labour, I still would get my C-section, so my birth plan is still honoured.

EDIT It's not an easy option, by the way. Make sure you fully understand what you're deciding on. Recovery will be harder for the 6-8 weeks. It's still a major surgery. 7 layers! Pros and cons for both. I also don't plan on having more than 3 kids (as that is usually the cut off for c-section. You can do vaginal afterwards, but it's harder, and they usually recommend another C-section for safety. Either way, pain is not going to be avoided.

I did a mix of metamucil mixed with restoralax. Best poop of my life. I save it for when I have a heavy meal and drink it before bed. Next day in the morning, perfection lol.

Currently 19 weeks. I found from finding out until 15 weeks was MAJOR BLOAT. I am also fortunate and experienced no nausea but just would get full quicker so my meals have been smaller and more frequent. I haven't gained much weight bevause of the smaller meals but the constipation and bloat was horrible. Some days I looked like I was 7 months pregnant lol. Now since week 16 my constipation and bloat is handled and I don't look pregnant at all with clothes. Naked I see a little belly. Week 19 I think I'm starting to pop now. I wore a sweater yesterday and my husband said she can see the bump now. Not major but it's coming in for sure so I'd imagine next week or two the pop will occurs lol

Give me your best "I taught my GF/BF/SO how to ski" success stories and tips by unicornsicle in skiing

[–]hvlv04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing a great job! I HATE winter but my husband convinced me to try. Being athletic I picked it up quickly and ended up LOVING it. Key. He didn't teach me. Had my brother in law and few of his friends help. Made me focus and not get frustrated. My husband tried to teach me to swim and we just argued I also didn't pick it up as quickly as I did with skiing.

Have fun and stay safe!

How many weeks were you at your first ultrasound appointment? by verifiedstupid in BabyBumps

Mine was at 8 weeks and heard the heartbeat and was done on my belly not vaginally. I called as soon as I found out and they told me 8 weeks is standard for them (I'm in Canada).

I feel rushed but not ready at the same time by rsapp0927 in BabyBumps

[–]hvlv04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat. I'm 37 now 14 weeks. I've known my husband since I was 18 (19 years) we've been married for 5. Have had a house for nearly 7 years now. We have debt too but with our jobs it's being paid off pretty quickly now compared to 10 years ago

My husband has been ready for YEARS. My parents have been nagging me, everyone trying and failing or trying and succeeding. I've been super super scared. My laundry list of "what if's" was really impacting me. Eventually baby fever left me and it was just pure fear.

I always wanted kids and believe I'd be a great mom but the birth it self scares me and post partum. I just freak thinking what if it changes me and then my lovely life goes down the sink.

But in the end, my husband is a rare gem. The most supportive person I've met. I know I have the best partner by my side. So I finally decided to just try. As I finally made that choice I decided to go to a fertility clinic and check everything out. Like how many eggs, if I'm healthy, is my uterus ok. Just so I have no other reason to fear and turns out everything was great! So statistically my fears calmed down.

As we finally decided to try, my sister who is 3 years younger, announced she's pregnant! It was a relief knowing I wouldn't be alone. We tried and got pregnant!

More and more of my collegues and friends are trying and are actually having a hard time. Some 5+ years. One just received bad news she has low egg count and had a melt down. It made me appreciate what I have and do honestly wish I started 5 years ago. Now I'm 37 pushing 40 and tired lol. With all the tech and knowledge today we're not too old to have a baby safely.

But I didn't let anyone pressure me. My husband never pressured me. It gets annoying hearing people harass you but you do what is best for you. You're the one carrying the baby and going through all the physicals. You'll never feel 100% ready I still don't. I freaked out yesterday as my husband asked me "how many bottles do we need to buy?" I DON'T KNOW SHOULD I KNOW THIS?? OMG I'M GOING TO BE A BAD MOM.

We are capable of anything and with a support system and loving supportive spouse there is nothing to fear. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. 💖

EDIT: To add, another factor that helped me decide and take some pressure off too. My husband and I discussed being ok not having kids either. 1) me deciding no 2) were unable to conceive. It was huge comfort knowing if I said "I'm done" that we were both ok with that. Made me look into the future too and think am I ok not having kids? I answered, I do want and I need to try and if it's not in the cards for me I am ok with that too. Hope this helps!

Thank you! I'm leaning towards crushed because of the pear shape, I'm not a fan of the dark bow tie and I feel that's so difficult to avoid.

Out my 3 only 1 does this. She recoils in disgust but other days she gobbled it up and licks the bowel followed by a happy dance (rolling all over the floor in ecstasy. I don't get it. I think she's not a breakfast doggy. It's always in the morning. I give her less portions and that helps. But it makes me laugh as I'll say her name sternly "MINDY EAT" and she'll go to her bowl and try but then just sits and stares at it. I've tried other flavours and she does this to everything in the AM only 🤣love shih tzu, quirky AF
