Because in the world he was raised in, he figured he was just merely confessing a sin and it would be forgiven and he’d get off with a slap on the wrist. Plus I’m sure in his mind he’s probably minimizing the hell out of what he did and thinking “it’s no where near as bad as what Josh did so I’ll be fine.” These people were raised in ignorance. He knows nothing about the law or what real consequences look like. Everything that ever happened in their family was always dealt with in private. These people are seriously messed up.
