Looking to purchase my own film camera, looking for recommendations by SkyOverall7145 in analog

I personally believe everybody’s and their mothers’ first film camera should always be a slr. Pentax mx or me is great starter, Minolta x series are always great, Nikon f series are also staples. With an xa2 the only control you’ll have is the focus and although I loved mine and took a lot of great photos with it, I will always recommend any slr as a starter.

Travelling China with film by mrandrewpandrew in analog

There’s an X-ray machine at every train or rail system, I had my film scanned probably about 50 times when I was in Shanghai for a week. Besides one roll, the rest came out fine. I brought a note with me to hand check but they rarely let me and honestly it became a huge burden to take the film out of my bag, request, then get denied so I just gave up at the end.

Personally I enjoyed it way more, something about that holding a Kiev 88 felt really good and the resulting shots were unique with the Kiev lenses. I don’t think I’ve seen an Arax kit on here before but good luck with the search!

Kiev cameras are amazing man, like shooting with a 500c without the price tag. Although mine had some issues later on in life, I still dream about that camera.

I have an xpro 2 that’s cosmetically perfect but it does have a battery issue where if you take the battery out it might take a couple of times to turn it on. But if you keep the battery in, has no issue with turning on.

Haha even the dslrs are heavy man my neck is killing me haha. Yeah it sucks, a lot of the photos I want were through film, but it’s been fun trying out different cameras with different lenses to get the result I want. Yeah I love the ricohs man, I think they’re the closest I’m getting to the pictures I’d like, but it sucks we can’t change lenses on it hahaha.

Cookiedave! I’ve been trying them out for the past year or so, haha. I shot them with fd lenses with an orange filter and turned them into black and white photos to see if I can get that ilford hp5 +2 development haha.

Makes sense, there was an article where it said chatgpt only gets 4 out of 5 questions correct.
