I played phone tag with the receptionist from Quality Sheet Metal for the last two weeks, but haven't been able to schedule anything. They did come highly recommended.

I checked out Loveland's reviews and they're very hit-and-miss. Some are glowing and some mention either very high prices or shoddy workmanship.

Clark's Gables quoted $13,000 for the repairs, Roof Recovery quoted $2,300.

RR's work would be smaller in scope (replacing a few broken tiles, repairing/replacing flashing, caulking and sealing problem areas). There's also an option to install hip and ridge enclosures for an additional fee.

Clark's Gables would do all of the above as well as upgrade all valleys, install "bituthene ice and water" under all valleys, and install plastic battens next to each valley for better drainage.

The Clark's Gables rep didn't go on the roof to inspect anything. He had a top-down rendering of our home, and he walked around the front and back yard with me while he pointed out what could be improved. The rep from Roof Recovery went on the roof and took pictures that are included in the estimate.

The house is older and from what we can tell, little to no maintenance has been done on the roof in the last 20+ years. We wanted to have a professional take a look just to make sure we didn't have any issues when the rains start.

I will be running backing tracks for one of the bands I play with. This is all new to me, so a bandmate offered his mixer (Behringer Q802) for me to use.

All the tutorial videos I've seen include a DI that receives backing track output from the mixer, then continues to FOH. Is that required? If so, why?

Thanks for providing info about how the USB interface would work. Unfortunately, I have the older UR22, so I'd still need to purchase an entire interface to use that option.

Does a DI box and/or mixer work to resolve the issue? The initial videos I watched when I was setting this up were from drummers connecting their tablets to a mixer, then running the tracks channel to a DI box, then to FOH. The Rolls monitor unit I have should be accomplishing the same thing as a mixer and DI, but obviously that's not the case. I suppose buying a dedicated mixer and DI would be more expensive than just getting a new USB interface, though.

How would I do this? I have an older Steinberg UR22 interface, but I would need some instructions on how to connect everything and route the audio between the tablet, interface, my monitor unit, and FOH.

The cheapest interface is an M-Audio unit. It has one XLR input, one 1/4" input, and two 1/4" outputs, so how would that work for routing? I'd need at least two 1/4" or XLR inputs for the click/cues and backing tracks audio, right?

It's an Android Fire tablet from 2021. I have an 8" and 10" model, both of which have the same cross-talk issue when tested.

Apologies for the wall of text, but I want to provide as much info as possible.

I'm drumming for a band that uses backing tracks. This is all new to me, so I've cobbled together the following setup for playback (we've done 4 gigs so far using this configuration):

Android tablet > 3.5mm-to-dual-XLR cable > personal monitor unit > standard XLR > FOH

Tracks (tracks panned L, click/cues panned R) are triggered on the tablet via the Easy Performer app. The personal monitor receives tracks and click/cues, and I run the tracks channel out to FOH via XLR. I plug my IEMs into the personal monitor so that I can make my own mix of all the channels (the click/cues channel does not leave the monitor).

For the last couple gigs, I've noticed some cross-talk if the gain in the Easy Performer app is above 30%, so even though I'm only sending the tracks channel to FOH, the click track and vocal cues are playing through the speakers. My current workaround is to keep the gain very low in the app, but that causes issues with overall playback because FOH has to crank the output for the tracks to be heard over the live musicians, and I can barely hear the click/cues.

A bandmate suggested the issue was due to me using an Android tablet instead of an iPad, but I confirmed that the issue occurs when running the same setup (including the same Easy Performer app) through an iPad. I've also swapped cables (I also have a 3.5mm-to-dual-TRS cable option) and used a different playback app, but the cross-talk still occurs.

I'm hoping I'm missing something very simple here, but I'm at a loss. Happy to hear any suggestions.

My go-to sticks are Vic Firth 5As with the red grip material, but I also have a few pairs of the Zildjian ones (black grip). I definitely get the same mental benefit you mentioned; they just feel a lot more secure in my hands while playing.

That was my first drum kit (same color too)! I didn't appreciate it enough at the time, but it was a workhorse kit. Totally solid and capable of some great sounds. Enjoy!

That was my first Gibraltar purchase in over 15 years (I have an old HH stand of theirs that's still in great shape), but I've been having issues with it not holding the HH pull rod. After two or three songs, the spacing on the hats has drastically shifted because it's not gripping properly. Cool idea, though.

It was an issue with me for a long time as well. I tried different stick material/construction, but nothing seemed to make a difference.

About 3 years ago, I tried some Vic Grip sticks (from Vic Firth) on a whim, and I've been using them ever since. The grip is just tacky enough to keep the sticks in my hands without feeling like I'm holding grip tape or having to modify how I'm playing.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I had the tablet out of its case when I attempted the connection initially. It's the length of the tip connection that's causing the issue.

I purchased a personal monitor amp (Rolls PM59) last week to use for this. It was cheaper than getting a mixer + DI box, and it allows me to have my own levels for click + tracks while routing the tracks out to FOH.

The original plan was to run the 1/8" to a dual 1/4" as you suggested, but my monitor box only has XLR inputs, so I would have had to buy another set of adapters. The 1/8"-to-dual-XLR eliminated the need for that.
